I don’t see a multi vehicle collission causing this. Worked enough accidents as a tow truck driver for one of the largest AAA companies in the So Cal region to know, this is a solo accident.

A driver has to do a long list of dumb things for this to happen. Also has to completely ignore or be unaware of several factors like a huge weight imbalance, never looking into any of several mirrors, and ignoring what I can imagine were several other drivers trying to get his attention.

Yeah, the owner is lying. The wheel assembly failed. The owner is likely to embarrassed to admit he bought a $120K lemon.

That’s exactly why... If it’s not AWD/dual motor/etc, you can tow it on the non driven wheels.

Most of these EV motors are PMAC (Permanent Magnet AC) so that means there is always a field present (most generators have a wound field that is either self-excited *insert joke here* or separately excited).

MADD classifies all accidents where any occupant of the car is drunk as an alcohol-related crash. If you are sober and hit a drunk pedestrian, it is an alcohol-related crash. Their statistics are widely used by the police and any other organization that wants to limit drivers. As with most causes of accidents, the

The EV thing is worrisome because most of the buyers are trading out of some other relatively efficient sedan and are in no way prepared for the differential.  Suddenly they have triple the HP and instant torque.

I feel like anything north of 700 should require the equivalent of a CDL.  It takes nothing to screw up badly with that amount of power at your disposal.

I’m all for a tiered license system, camry/rav4 equivalents are fine with a basic license. Past that they should require additional training and up the potential fines/points to match. Even towing should require a different license and Full size suvs/trucks should fall into a higher category. You see way to many

This.

Damn, can’t believe I missed a chance to throw Ronin in for consideration. It had a couple of good scenes. and is at least better than The Rock’s over the top chase.

A trailer ball so high in the air that NASA would have to build the trailer for the stupid thing.

So to recap, you have to hold this button, watch the car as it moves and look at the tiny camera feeds for the slightest sign of trouble, and with all of that the car is likely going at a brisk walking pace at best.

I am the farthest thing from “acab”, but where the FUCK are the cops when this is happening? I’ve been to LA and Oakland, there seem to be cops everywhere until this nonsense is going down. Block the streets and arrest them ALL.

Can someone explain why enjoyment of cars/car culture is a presumption of GOP status?  I am a democrat - all my voting years - but I’ve also loved cars since I can remember lining up Matchbox and Hot Wheels on my parents’ TV console when I was maybe 3-4 years old.  I am into all kinds of vehicles too; I don’t hate EVs

Everyone seems to know that apart from grumpy commenters on here.

I got an obsolete GPS screen in my 2005 vehicle. Imagine in the future buying a 15-20 year old vehicle and your whole damn dash is obsolete.

Even though we all know it, I was waiting for some acknowledgement that the best gas station food is at non-chain stations - with names most people haven’t heard of like Nonc Kev’s or Chevron #309464.

I built a small, low deck based on old rules that said what I was doing didn’t need a permit.  Asking forgiveness didn’t work.

When ordinary folks play that game with the government, it tends to go quite badly for them. But if you’re rich, whatever fines you get slapped with are typically minor annoyances. Example: Someone bought a burned-out shell of a (~100 year old) house a few blocks from me. They wanted to knock it down and build
