I think Miscavige is 5’2”? He’s really tiny, and apparently REALLY into bodybuilding. The chip on his shoulder probably adds at least 2 feet to his height.

My husband was working at an event center where a group of Scientologists had rented a conference room. They pulled up in big trucks with fake bakery/food labels on the outside. They were really serious about the rooms being locked and there were guards outside all day, but at night he sneaked in and took some pics.…
Right? What’s the word for that thing where a “parody” isn’t as hilarious as the actual video it’s making fun of?
I think you’re doing a fantastic job. There are plenty of writers who would have gotten pissy and defensive at commenters by now, or abandoned the story entirely; the fact you haven’t speaks highly of you.
I honestly admire that. While this case always seems outrageous it takes a real professional to take their lumps and attempt to move on. I think everyone involved in this can learn something from it.
It’s traditional, to remind them of Jesus’s mission to care for the poor and forgotten. Jesus’s feet were washed by a woman, after He had washed the feet of His disciples. She washed them with her tears, wiped His feet with her hair, and poured a very expensive oil over his head. His disciples got pissy about it,…
I write about it voluntarily, because it’s my responsibility to do so.
There’s really no better way to celebrate the Risen Christ than to be photographed by papparazzi while walking five abreast, carting a couple of innocent children, wearing thousand dollar outfits that most desperately poor people would shun even if given them for free. Meanwhile, back in Rome, the Pope was washing the…
I know you might mean this in a rude way, but I actually think it’s really cool that Anna keeps writing about this story. She made a mistake, but she owned up to and and apologized, and her coverage of it has been very very good. I think it’s really brave of her, because she no doubt knows she’s going to keep getting…
Virginia Attorney General Mark R. Herring has also released a statement:
It kills me that so many idiots will use this as a rallying cry to undermine efforts to fix a very real problem. I understand there is a very fine tight rope investigative journalists have to traverse but this, there were so many mistakes that didn't need to be made.
I don’t think they ever were :-/ They were teaching Kylie how to be sexy and dance on a pole at age ten, I don’t think they care about what is or isn’t inappropriate.
*sigh*
I kid, I kid. I like to make fun of bible stories and people who get them mixed up. It’s a hobby.
It's so, so important.
That wouldn't help to define what the middle class is, but it would tell you how well-off the middle class actually is in a particular state.
I wish I could demonstrate. I've often daydreamed about having someone who has lived a financially stable life come and stay with me for a few weeks, just for fun. I honestly believe that they would be shocked, having understood all along that there would be a different standard of living, but vastly underestimating…
The problem is that "middle class" doesn't actually mean what you think it means.
I see reports like this and I worry for the future of our country. I realize that sounds so cliched but it's true. I was raised in a solidly middle class family whose standard of living gradually increased as I grew older. Now as an adult, I've still considered myself and my family middle class - maybe upper middle,…
