My trick: I use email as little as possible. I don't use it for entertainment. That way, when I send an email to friends, it makes it count. Despite being quite busy, I only get 5 to 10 emails a day. Quite manageable. I'm never more than 1 or 2 emails behind. Hey.
I'd say the regular (non-hammer) drill won't do a good job.
