Ford guy who drives mostly GM

There is a lot of oversimplification going on as well like it’s binary...you either die or you don’t. I’m seeing a lot of info. about younger folks having severe strokes as a result of covid. Don’t tell me that a 32 year old who faces years of disability/therapy has “recovered.”

Am I the only person (ok, I am) who misses Mercury...even a bit? If GM can field four brands, Ford could have managed three. I am lazily not going to do any research here but did Ford ever regain all the sales they forfeited when Mercury was shuttered? I have had an eclectic mix of cars in my stable having once owned

Also, don’t forget about the destination...if you have been taking the bus or the train, the place your are going will probably NOT have free parking. On top of a monthly pmt, ins., fuel, maintenance, you now have parking which alone costs way more than you were paying for public transit. A mid-suburban zone train

I had a 97 f-150 and it was a breeze to drive (although a death-trap in a front-end crash per the testing). I then leased an ‘07 f-150 and it was like I got a big-rig. Getting close-up to a new Ranger I concur that it’s relatively huge. Eventually I bought an ‘07 Sierra and I’ll probably keep it forever as a 1 day per

I thought the same thing...maybe because we also have a Flex and I once had an ‘84 Grand Marquis (and a Taurus SHO and a Contour SVT...i was stupid for cars in my youth). So yeah, I can see rockin’ the Squire. Maybe even swap in an electric powertrain with all that real estate.

“They were definitely the thing clueless parents got instead of the Atari machines” perfectly mirrors what I thought given that that is what my parents bought us in the early 80's.  They meant well but blew it. Funny thing is that when I cleaned out my mom’s place I found it and moved it to my basement.  Now I’ll be

No regen on coast seems crazy (from this non-engineers POV). At the other end of the spectrum, I LOVE the regen paddle on our Volt. I do not like the one-peddle driving mode but the regen paddle makes it way more engaging to drive. Still wish there was a compelling reason to make EV’s with a manual trans but of course

Not the main thing but one of the reasons we bought a gen 2 Chevy Volt is that it runs on regular as opposed to premium req’d in gen 1. I’m still glad we got it but had I really thought through how little gas we use, it would have been a non-factor.

It’s funny to see Sunoco identified as the best fuel one can buy. Growing up in Philly when Sunoco was based here, everyone said it was the worst, rotgut gas out there. I’m sure it was just one more example of the ubiquitous Philly self-hate, but I bet I’m not the only SE PA person who remembers that.

Dating myself I know but I had both of these front-drivers.

Gen II Volt owner here and I concur.

which is the ONLY acceptable width between the wheel wells for any “truck.” With absolutely no engineering pedigree I proclaim as a consumer that it can’t be THAT difficult to start building a midsize truck, heck even a compact, around that dimension.

I’d miss Buick more because of my dad’s ‘82 Regal than for my ‘04 Rendezvous that we unloaded because of the 3.6 timing chain defect...but I can’t help but chuckle at “It’s been a while since GM killed a brand.”

So much (in FLA) for the very skinny silver lining of clean(er) air due to no one driving anymore.

Nice product placement! Somewhere, a product manager is smiling...

I’ve always wondered about that sales model in term of the “cash-on-the hood” shopper. I think manufacturers use some kind of incentives in Europe and, if so, do incentives apply to cars that are ordered?

If it had the kit and NO Lambo badges, maybe, maybe for half that price. Putting an interesting body-kit seems like a cool idea, just don’t pretend to be something you’re not. Also, the part of my heritage that is Italian cringes at that kitschy flag on the dash.  What the...?

Teenager’s hockey equipment bags are a compelling reason for compact pick-ups compared to an SUV. You could probably get up to four bags in a short-bed and you don’t have to SMELL them. Need a return to BRAT bed-mounted seats for the perfect solution.

that’s a good eye you have there.

own a Volt and concur about general public’s cluelessness.
