One of the best.
One of the best.
Rest in peace and thank you for being a large part of the playlist in my heart.
Cool contribution to the discussion man.
I just watched “A Woman’s Face” with Ingrid Bergman from 1938, and it was part disturbing, part hilarious how she was really childmurderingly evil with a scar and developed a conscience when she had surgery and started looking like Ingrid Bergman.
I just adore all the fat-shaming here. I mean, we all know the fatties are inherently evil, right? And that when someone does something disgusting, their body/appearance totally have everything to do with it.
Y’all sound like a bunch of mean fucking fifth-graders. Hate this dude for being a pervy lech. His body has…
Oh yeah, it’s part of the “joke”. Everything intentionally looks like a set. Please try it, it’s very good.
The “right-wing” stuff feels a bit hollow because the first movie ends with a bunch of rich bureaucrats’ heads exploding (followed quickly by sodomy).
Yeah but Fox News is in it so that means it’s bad because conservatism is bad so the movie is bad. That’s how movies work
Ignaty, I love your reviews but can you just stop with the right-wing stuff about the first one? It’s fucking nonsense. One of the big climaxes of the movie was Colin Firth beating the crap of some proto Trump voters, you don’t have to shriek BUT THEY KILLED OBAMA over and over. It was a dumb fun movie and an equal…
Sure, this review makes the movie sound like trash, but on the other hand:
That’s ridicous? It was perfectly plotted through out.
For a split second I was going to reply “No no they are Brendan Gleeson’s sons!’ I take my fan-girling very seriously. But yes! Ed Harris is amazing and no, I don’t really want to see this, it sounds like a chore. And I say this as someone who sat through Bergman’s Persona more than once. I had more stamina, I was an…
And they’re Ed Harris’s sons, which makes me so much more interested. But oh my god do I not want to see this. I used to love this auteur shit in highschool - thought I was so smart for enjoying Gus Van Sant and even Lars Von Trier - but these days David Lynch is the only person I want to make me uncomfortable.
CinemaScore isn’t to judge a movie’s quality, but to judge the audience reaction to it based upon their expectations. I’d say that it’s best application is to view how something was advertised to the audience going to see it. To me it seemed as if this movie was being advertised as a psychological horror/thriller, and…
This seriously really makes me want to see this now. I was on the fence before.
Thanks for that review. I am now 💯 in for this movie.
...mother! F
Seriously, they should insert it in all advertising.
This only makes me want to see this thing more.
Paul Verhoeven has done sooo much more than Showgirls. He’s very intelligent, extremely well-educated, very engaging, very original. Turks Fruit is one of his first films, in the early 70s and a classic, it probably wouldn’t be possible to make it that way today. And I’m such a fan of Soldaat van Oranje, which made…
