This. 100% this.. fuck car sales.

My limited experience in the field is in here in small bits.

Here is perhaps the most sobering thought about car sales as a career: everyone in the profession can be replaced by a well-crafted web interface.

Literally any job with a commission payment structure is cutthroat and catty. And the people that last the longest and are the most successful are the ones who are the most cutthroat and the most catty. That’s the problem with any sales position.

Former car salescritter here, eventually became an F&I guy, sales manager, and GSM. What follows should be considered well-informed opinion...

You can’t give somebody a ticket for going one KPH over the speed limit; those aren’t even real units!

Pedigree and all that racing nonsense speaks to this. What race has Hyundai/Kia won? There are a few, but no one cares.

This dude seems to forget the very large contigent of buyers who get an AMG or ///M badged car not for the performance, but for the badge itself. I’m no enginner but I imagine the economy of scale in having mostly EV platforms streamlines production costs quite a bit. You don’t think Mercedes and BMW are going reflash

Banks twin turbo’d aluminum 350 ci V8 shoved in a Porsche 930 (I think). The slant nose fenders were custom made from RX7 pieces. It’s got a few hundred pounds of ballast in the nose. Not sure what year it is but the builder is a heavy duty diesel mechanic by trade. He told me it makes 1000 HP but I don’t think that’s

I am that neighbor...

I can’t because I am THAT neighbor.

A regular Boxster, yes. But I wouldn’t be surprised if your average Boxster Spyder owner is mad wealthy and bought it as an investment.

c’mon man, that was the stereotype back in ‘99 maybe. Now we know they’re all in Cayenne Turbos and X5 M’s.

Showing off in a Boxster? It’s cool, we all know you couldn’t afford a 911. But will you be able to pay for that lawyer now that someone dialed 911?

Please stop referring to C&C as a car show. Please.

As much as I enjoy cars and working on them, H2Oi and the resulting insanity is why I no longer involve myself in the local car culture. Sure, you’re just out for a drive, then idiots get together and it’s like throwing a match at a pool of gasoline. Sooner or later someone’s going to do something stupid and the idiot

50 miles down the highway puts these cars right in the Atlantic Ocean, which is fine by me

I’ve been saying something simple about this... If the town doesn’t want your business, they can suck a fat one. Don’t give them any of your money and see how their tune changes.
