Illumination works because their animation is much cheaper than the other companies and their runtimes are very small. Plus I don't think they hire writers.

The first Despicable Me had the bones of a much better movie, but zero courage of its convictions.
You are not missing out!
And Kid Rock is hardly the dumb, poor redneck he presents as. His dad owned a bunch of car dealerships, and he grew up wealthy like Larry the Cable Guy. He got rich acting like a dumb hick, and the fact he did that speaks volumes to his fan base.
People upset about this probably still think Anheuser-Busch is still an American-owned company.
The one repeating piece of criticism I keep seeing leveled at it that will probably stick for me (paper thin story? in MY mario movie???) is all the obvious appeals to the parents (and merchandising) with the soundtrack that is just so god damn played out.
And more importantly regarding that bottom line: they know that the number of bigots that they might alienate won’t effect it.
They 100% miss it. I can’t tell you how often middle-to-middle-upper-class liberal-ish people have informed me that blue collar folks aren’t okay with trans people - as if trans folks aren’t often blue collar themselves. They really do buy the idea that all trans folks are teal-haired teenagers with money hanging out…
It’s so funny to me, like they didn’t do a TON of research to make sure they can seem progressive while protecting their bottom line. Almost like...whew...stick with me here...most people are pretty fine with trans folks actually!
Anheuser-Busch is a division of AB InBev, the world’s largest brewer with revenue of $57B last year. I think they’ll weather this storm okay.
This was my same thought too. Capitalism actually demands that you try to expand to the widest, most diverse customer base as possible with your product. Equity, in that sense, is the most American thing a corporation could do.
Wow wait until they find out that Bud Light’s actual goal is to make as much money as possible by selling their beer to as many people as possible and that they’re willing to invest in marketing campaigns that target people other than dudes that wear Oakleys on the back of their head in order to accomplish that goal.
First of all. What a tool.
We need a trans person to snag a sponsorship deal with a gun manufacturer. That’ll get all the wingnuts to get rid of their guns.
If WoW ever tires for you, I highly recommend Final Fantasy XIV, which has a ton of content and there is always groups for content. In addition, the free trial goes all the way through the first expansion, and its story is amazing.
They usually can’t define it because what it really means to them is: “A slur I’m still allowed to say”
Gamers aren't oppressed, but they *should* be.
KiraTV just dropped a pretty good breakdown of the publisher of this game and a bunch of other similar titles, and their ongoing policy of wringing every bit of money possible out of the games they own and dropping anything that won’t meet their bottom line. Then again, we knew Ark was a scam when it dropped paid DLC…
This is scummy. ultra scummy. Asset flipper level scummy. This was the EXACT fear when this whole “EVERYTHING ALWAYS ONLINE DIGITAL ONLY” thing began.
