Historically it has been a different genre with different design principles. As you correctly identify, the foremost one is having a linear story, which is usually an epic story and pretty well-told, as opposed to having a story where you make choices, but which is typically less epic and a bit more messing in the

Music no longer showing on TV”

He wasn’t really “on to something”. The 2000s aren’t the beginning or end of history, dude.

I’ve literally heard people claim even liking milk is racist, let alone promoting, because of lactose intolerance. This is usually followed immediately by the “70% of people are lactose intolerant!” statistic. Specifically I’ve heard people say any promotion of milk or dairy whatsoever was anti-Asian racism.

JRPG was never derogatory, it just separated two styles of RPG. JRPGs were notable for, as you say, having grander/more epic stories, but also not allowing you to make any story choices at all (usually), whereas western RPGs often did allow you to make significant story choices (and usually had far less grand stories).

There wasn’t widespread xenophobia towards Japanese games or developers in the industry at that time. Certainly not in the 1990s.

It’s definitely rewriting history.

It’s kind of dumb, though, because it’s not really representative of how the term has been used historically. It’s more about how American (specifically) gamers got super-fucking-racist in like the 2000-2008 period. It wasn’t just the Japanese. There was a staggering amount of anti-Black racism, anti-Semitism and so

It’s also pretty damn silly because the whole “JRPGs is racist man” thing is from around then, but the term JRPG had been around, and not regarded as problematic by anyone, including JRPG devs, for about 15 years before that, and existed after it, and still isn’t regarded as problematic except by people who were a bit

I don’t think so dude, but you keep on assuming the PC version is working 100% correctly 100% of the time.

That’s bizarre. I took a bunch of shots at the boss, and not once did any kind of “text box” come up nor did the Divine Beast thing light up. I had to beat him the hard way.

What are you saying “isn’t true”?

He’s not “100%” correct because I didn’t get the message at all, on any number of attempts on the boss. Not once.

In the demo you get a divine beast attack which you can use to finish him off - it also does a ton of damage.

Which divine beast are you claiming you unlocked, and when are you claiming you unlocked it?

You definitely do not understand the concept of nuance.

I mean, your response seems truly idiotic if you actually watch and understand the clips. This isn’t like, Steve does 2% more damage than he should or something, this is the equivalent of an F1 car which could somehow accelerate out of braking 3x as fast as another car. Just watch the video before moaning pathetically

The divine beast forms are only in the demo. You have to beat him the hard way. It’ll take a lot more than two tries lol. I posted upthread with a guide on how to do it though.

That’s only true in the demo. You don’t have the “two button ultimate” (i.e. beast) move in the real game. You don’t get that until after another boss.

I was stuck on him for a couple of days too. If you’re still stuck on him, I can give you some specific advice which might help:
