Every single important city in the US would love this approach. The rural areas would dry up and the cities would prosper like never before, now that they don’t have to support people in the country. I would love to see how Texas does if only Houston and Dallas left, the entire state would be dirt poor in no time flat.

I love this. Where a person living in a rural part of the state laments the presence of the large city that is essentially subsidizing their entire life. We have the same issue in New York.
