If you read Infinity and thought, "This is pretty rad, but I wish it was been done in the 90s! Pouches were so cool!" Then Forever Evil is for you.

Honestly the depiction of Nite Owl bugged me even more. "In the comic Nite Owl is a sad, overweight, important guy, right? Well, get this: In the movie we 're gonna do the same thing… except make him a badass!"

Brubaker's first arc ("Devil in Cell Block D") was aces though.

Man, I just can't get over how much I loved Bendis' run. One of my top 3 superhero runs.

I just recently read Mazzucchelli's Asterios Polyp. Great stuff.

I like to blame Brian De Palma for soooooooo much.

Curse of the Jade Scorpion = doubt about the man's ability to write.

Ennis' s Punished of bust.

Well I never thought I'd see the day that I'd be corrected on a matter of superhero trivia. Bravo good sir.

But can basic cable give us hillbilly rape? Preacher takes violence to a level beyond Breaking Bad.

1938*

For me I found the flashforward to be pretty I rough. After the beautiful prose of the first half I was just unready and unwilling to read the inner monologue of a sad-sack 30-something.

I've heard the Orientalist is solid. Is it wrong that I am so much more excited to read the Black Count than I am to read any Dumas novels?

Jacob de Zoet is my favorite as well.

Yeah that's the one. It was great. Like Cloud Atlas I found that not every narrative thread worked for me (I thought the London and Ireland passages were terrible) but as a whole it worked like gangbusters.

Good point.

But, to me, almost more horrifying than everything that came before.

Just finished both Ghostwritten (which I loved) and Matterhorn (which I also loved, but left me very depressed). Next up is the Black Count.

Stephenson recommendation: if you want something quick and easy try the Baroque Cycle. You should be able to knock it out in like a weekend.

Loved Oscar Wao. Totally lived up to all the hype. His short fiction is great as well.
