I do mind it. Even if the kids were being used (I cared about stuff when I was like 12 and up), they didn’t know that, and this was their first encounter with a real live Representative Of The People. And she was shitty to them. She’s been in Congress for like 800 years ... she should be able to be more diplomatic

She sounds just like the Boomers at my government agency who have been there since the 1970s.

Lol @ all these comments that are like “THESE POOR KIDS ARE BEING USED” as if a 16 year old girl can’t be concerned about her planet ending up a smoking dustbowl.

I’m a high school teacher and one of my students was very close to failing his English class (I taught him in a different subject). He knew the teacher loved poetry so he wrote his last paper on Langston Hughes and went on and on and on the essay about how Langston inspired him to be a poet, poetry is the gateway to

I’m gonna try to be gentle here. I invite you to re-read your comment and then ask yourself if there’s anything ironic or problematic in it.

2o years later, my other brother and I finally told my dad. He knew the exact day we were talking about, laughed so hard he had to take off his glasses, and thanked us for not telling him a minute sooner.

One summer during college I was nannying in NYC (not where I went to school) and was on the subway reading a book. This cute guy started talking to me about it and since I was never going to see him again I did what my best friend and I ways did - I pretended I was somebody else. An English somebody else.

I prefer to use my debit card specifically because it DOES come out of my account. I don’t like having a big credit card bill at the end of the month. Even though I can pay it, it always feels like using a credit card is spending money I don’t have.

Every younger woman in a leadership position has experienced this. The combination of sexualizing you while belittling your intelligence is a two-pronged strategy men use to demean you when they feel threatened by your power. My solution is to just femme it up even more while continuing to run shit the way I please.

This take. Its wrong.

Yeah, only idiots pay for things with money they actually have. That’s why this country has non-existent credit card debt. /s

I can understand being fatigued by all the attention she’s getting, but it’s not like she’s actively seeking it out. The attention comes from her genuinely wanting to get something positive done — as opposed to the business as usual bullshit from Pelosi (though her take-no-shit approach with Donald is fantastic) — and

I’m so tired of hearing discussions about her looks.  She is young, has a lot of energy, and is bringing obscure political topics to the forefront.  I studied things like marginal tax rate and gerrymandering and never understood why they weren’t more discussed.  I’m also really annoyed that a topic like investment for

Yup. I think it’s the fact that she gives no fucks about their criticisms that irks them the most. They want her to fly off the handle and rant but they can’t find that switch.

Confession time. I’m a Washington Post and Slate troll, but not that kind. I look at it like this: these guys don’t care and/or don’t want to hear facts, figures, arguments, etc. There’s no mind changing. So I have a little fun instead.

That is a terribly drawn caricature and Ben Garrison is a horrible artist and is very bad at social commentary and the “jokes” in that panel are bad and not funny and he should feel bad for creating such awful bad not very good work.

I will admit to suffering from a little bit of AOC fatigue at this point, but there are few things that set my blood to boiling like seeing the total dipshits on my Facebook call her dumb. Like, if I were to rank the intelligence of everyone on my friends list, these people would be in the bottom 10%, no question.

I feel like some people here in the comments need to find a better bank. I exclusively use credit unions, and in the past 8 years I’ve had fraud charges show up twice at my current CU, and they notified me of the charges, refunded me the money that day, and had a new card to me within a couple days.
