I was so happy to catch this and just see Macaulay looking well. He comes into my shop now and then and is always super nice and a bit quirky, but I hadn’t seen him in a bit. He deserves to just be able to chill.

That’s horrifying, but not entirely surprising, particularly after Amazon’s horrific bullying of every author under the Hachette/Little, Brown umbrella a few years back. Speaking as a publisher and longtime bookseller: Amazon is nothing but an enemy to anyone who cares at all about books, let alone is involved in…
I find it more terrifying than you suggest I should, but that’s likely because it’s happened despite there being no Echo or Google Home (nor any similar devices) in my house at all.
Christopher McQuarrie is a damn delight. All else can likely gtfo, though.
Good to know! And the whole thing with having mods sounds nice! (What a concept!) I already poked my head into a book-related post (lol of course), and it’s been good, so I think I will keep checking. Thank you again for the heads up. :)
I simply do not trust the public to judge service because they’re often the problem. Be nice to your server and they’ll usually be nice to you. Respect must go two ways.
They both have their pros and cons, because people are the worst.
Yeah, Yelp is the only place where I’ve witnessed customers straight up publicly LIE about the services we provide, and about the most inane and petty shit. Like, are you just that needy for attention to the point where you’ll write fiction on a business review site, or are you completely delusional? Can it be both…
ETA: Didn’t realize how it worked, but I’m not sure how much traction I’ll get in yet another part of the site where I’m still gray... but I’ll give it a try!
I might! I don’t think I’d ever be inclined to make my own full posts here (I barely blog on my own personal/private blogs as it is anymore), but it would be nice to be able to find something more interactive than SNS has been lately!
True! Though I’ve also noticed just not as much conversation going on (not that I’d claim to be someone who posts much of interest, other than cat photos, lol), so it rarely does for me, really, even when I was more active here on Saturdays.
I love y’all, but with SNS posting earlier and earlier every week, I think I’m just going to have to sort of semi-permanently bow out. 2:30PM is just not doable for those of us who actually work on weekends.
I grew up in San Diego — which is not the laid-back surfer town everyone outside it assumes it is, but is actually a rather conservative military town — and one year, on the 4th, they screened Captain America: The First Avenger on the deck of one of the retired aircraft carriers, the USS Midway.
Probably the best advice I’ve seen on here. Pretty much essential for survival if you’re living in a big city, a total introvert, or — as in my own case — both.
exceptions are made solely to keep the peace in romantic relationships, but oh dear gods do I bitch about it.
It’s just as Christian as it is Pagan at this point, and ultimately it’s really just another capitalist holiday.
This sounds like a dream. As in a literal one I have about what I pretend I could turn a current LDR situation into, somehow, lol.
Of course!
Aww, it’s okay! It was hell at the time, but as of this coming February, it’ll be four years already (!) since I went through it, I’ve officially been at my current job over a year longer than the old shitty one, and it all turned out for the best. (Of course, that didn’t seem possible at the time, because when you’re…
Ugh, that sucks. In my case, it’s often not so much that anyone’s making money, like you say, but back in my event photography days (which I definitely don’t bother with anymore), newswires would often pick up a photo and just crib it from another source, rather than just downloading it through a license from one of…
