I still get a little angry thinking back on it sometimes, honestly.

Yes! (And not only does it involve older characters, but damn, how rare is not only an interracial couple/love interest situation, but one where they’re BOTH older? Pam Grier and Robert Forster are so great together.) I’d add that another one of the strongest things going for it is the source material: it’s based off

Jackie Brown is so goddamn underrated, oh man. I love it so much.

You. I like you.

This week has really, really tested me, y’all. This year had been, frankly, pretty good, often great! ...Up until this week. But now...

Props to your badass daughter! (And to you, for not operating under the naive and incorrect assumption that a school administration will ever step up for a girl or a women. They don’t.)

Honestly, even LA isn’t much better these days. One of the last good stations with any variety shut down last year, and I tried to pick up the slack elsewhere on the dial while driving for a while after, to no avail. I pretty much never listen to the radio now (especially not when I drive down to SD, which is somehow

Serious question (which you may or may not be able to answer): are there any decent San Diego radio stations left? I feel like the answer has been “no” for at least the past few years, if not much longer.

You can easily link multiple accounts via the mobile app (I currently have 3 on view; one personal, two for business), and on the desktop, all you have to do is use a different tab to have more than one open/logged in at once.

San Diego’s entire (hilariously terrible) infrastructure is a major problem.

THE HELL IS THIS

Unfortunately, though I have definitely been tremendously fucked over by a boss — my boss prior to my current job, in fact, as well as the CEO above her — the person in question was a woman. It also didn’t involve pay discrepancy, so, even though it’s a hell of a story (they had to literally conspire to commit fraud

Of course! As I said, and like you mention as well, it definitely varies, shop to shop. (As does just generally which subjects they’ll need more or less of, based on what their neighborhood tends to buy.)

We use a good amount of IKEA shelving for our own back stock where I work! The Billy shelves — and plenty of other options they’ve offered over the years — are exactly what you would need, and very affordable. Great book shelving options. I have several of my own at home, too.

Where on earth do you imagine bookstores would store a bunch of random shelves, on the off chance someone wanted to buy them? Pretty much every square foot of most bookstores is already taken up by, y’know... storing our stock of books!

Have worked in books for 10 years — and specifically (and currently) in a used bookstore — so thank you for this comment!! You’re spot-on, for the most part! However, some additional thoughts — though I’m in the grays here, so who knows if anyone will even see this — from an actual used book buyer...

Good to know! I will definitely give that a try, but be mindful of where I apply it.

No apologies necessary at all, the more information the better, and I really appreciate your reply! Thank you for taking the time!

Telling the poor/those relying hardest on assistance to “just cook more” is far easier said than done. You know what else cooking requires, other than just the ingredients? Access to clean water, consistent power/amenities of a stocked kitchen, appliances (never underestimate how fucking expensive it is to stock a
