Firstly, so glad you’re safe! I’m so sorry you had to go through that, though. I really hope you feel much better soon, that has to be really rough.

Aww, poor guy! I hope he has a speedy recovery. One of the kitties I cat sit for a friend (who is actually also black and white!) is toothless as well. She’s such a sweet little thing, but she seems to have adjusted to it just fine!

Ohhh, how beautiful, I LOVE black kitties just a little bit extra. They are so cute!

Thank you for starting this blessed thread. Never tire of all the kitties.

It’s more academic than my usual fare, but currently immersed in (but almost finished with) Annette Gilbert’s Publishing As Artistic Practice. I figured now, just before my company’s first book launches, would be the ideal time to read it. I really like the small press it’s from (Draw Down), and it’s both really well

I grew up in San Diego, and every time I drive down to visit my mother (about 3-4 times a year, since I live up in LA), without fail, there’s at least 1-3 new chunks of tract homes going up. And they are, almost always, being built on either hills covered in natural kindling, or in canyons. So... well done, San Diego!

Hell, I got sucked into it on one of the sites here just this past weekend, and now I’m just like, Why did you even respond in the first place? I should definitely know better by now. Lesson (re-)learned!

While I will be (literally) dancing in the streets when this administration crumbles, the chaos that will ensue hereafter will be overwhelming. More so, since auxiliary governmental offices have been all but dismantled.

I just clicked the link to check and LMAOOOOO @ $70 for leggings. Like, are you shitting me?

Total agreement re: Iron Man 2. Thinking about that movie too much makes me angry.

(a) I actually never knew that! but (b) no, this was during a job I had from 2012-14, so it was later than that. I just recall him being very interested in the subject, and as a former criminologist, it’s something that interests me, too (plus I had a lot of books in that section that I was recommending at the time to

I was so disappointed how my high school handled protesting the Iraq war. I was so angry about what was clearly — even to me, at 15 — such a violently stupid idea, and I knew a lot of other kids were angry, too, but in the end... a chunk of students walked out, and just milled around the quad. I ended up opting out,

Awww, what a sweetie!!

Season 10 is definitely rushed, and very... hodgepodge, like you describe. It’s one of the reasons why, when I first heard that 11 would get 10 episodes (rather than 10 only having 6), I felt a little bit more hopeful that would leave some more breathing room... And I do think it’s made a big difference, overall.

This is cute as heck!

Yeah, I thought it did a fantastic (and gloriously dark) job at expressing the idea that no one really “turns evil” at any point: if you’re able to go that far into horrible deeds, that darkness, ego, and shittiness was always there. It just wasn’t so obvious before, until other factors brought it front and center.

That’s understandable. But Gilligan himself summed up exactly what he wanted to do from the start: he wanted to “turn Mr. CHIPS into Scarface.” Hence giving him a seemingly very sympathetic set of circumstances in the beginning, only to watch his truly horrible, egotistical nature strip every last reason for any

Exactly.

This bums me out, because the show itself does not try to paint Walt as a hero. It lays out very well, across the whole run, just how selfish and narcissistic he is (not to mention how many other lives this ruins or just plain snuffs out), which was a huge part of why I found the finale so satisfying. (I only wanted 3

Yeah, I definitely wouldn’t call this one “scary”... More like, disturbing in its implications (then again, all cults are pretty disturbing), and just plain gross in all the surgical/bloodletting elements.
