Don’t know about other cities, but it’s big in LA. Most non-indie/chain theaters here have it. (That said, we have a LOT of theaters here, I think more than any other city in the world, so I’m probably seeing it a lot more often than others do who live elsewhere.)

The “chef” who lived in my apartment for a hellish few months was one of the most frightening and obnoxious assholes I’ve ever dealt with. (We later found out he had enough of a temper problem to have gotten in fights with cops, which... great!)

It is so, so gross and unnecessary, and — as I mentioned above — is potentially interfering with the literal survival of those kids. It’s like an even worse form of ambulance chasing, which until recently didn’t seem possible.

And thinking on this, what’s concerning to me about all these reporters popping into the Twitter mentions (apart from the obvious ghoulishness of it), is — they’re potentially interfering with this new means of those students protecting themselves.

A friend of my father’s (and the guy’s wife) are both San Diego firefighters. They just happened to be at the concert in the midst of the shooting in Vegas. Guy literally got shot in the foot, but they still stuck around to help countless others. Then opted to just drive back to San Diego rather than clog up the

This is, as you rightly point out, pure insanity.

Probably not the right place to comment, exactly (I’ve never been a football fan, but my parents were, and Junior Seau was a family friend — these days, since his suicide, it mostly sickens me), but I went through a similar process of developing apathy with F1 racing, which I grew up loving.

Apparently a former coworker of mine is her neighbor. She sounds awesome, and that made me so happy to hear, because I have loved her forever. (See: my icon!)

Not to mention the literal cultural erasure of monuments and landmarks in those areas they once occupied. A friend of mine lived for a time in South Korea, and she told me she lost track of the number of sites she visited with plaques that essentially read, “This is a replica; the original was destroyed by the

I’m pleasantly surprised to see any defenders of The Village around here - I’ve grown so used to feeling completely alone in really enjoying it! (Also, YES to the soundtrack. It is so, so beautiful. I worked in a movie theater back when it came out, and I used to pop into the theater a bit early before I was supposed

I watch Returns every Christmas now, too! Always a solid choice.

...Literally none of that has anything to do with what I said. I have no idea why I’m even responding to such an obvious troll, though.

You could maybe think back to where the health care “debate” was circa 2009, and not be a dick about it, but I see you chose the opposite path, which, whatever. Enjoy that!

This is probably the sweetest response I’ve ever gotten on here, thank you!

a federal single-payer is the only tool by which we can begin to define a just healthcare model in America.

I just keep thinking of that scene from the first Hunger Games now:

I can’t even imagine opting not to believe her! (But still, I totally get what you mean.) Once she finally told everything, suddenly all those little red flags finally had their larger context.

I’m so sorry for what you went through, and that it took to that point for you to feel visible. I really hope that you and your daughter are in a much safer situation now. Hugs to you. ♡

Oh, definitely. Fortunately, I’ve always had pretty strong gut instincts, and they haven’t steered me very wrong yet, so I guess I just came away from it with the idea in mind to pay more attention to them as they pertain to others who I might only interact with online, you know? It’s easier to hear those cautionary

I know, I felt the same! Like, her situation would’ve been scary enough anywhere, but the fact that he’d essentially trapped her on the entire other side of the globe from her family was what I think I would’ve found the most terrifying, in her shoes. (Which, of course, he did on purpose. A lot of abusers do that,
