This goes on like a few blocks from where I’ve been living for years, and I STILL haven’t gone! I don’t know why! Obviously I need to!

I’ve only ever had one in-person interaction with him, at my previous bookshop, but it was like a 30+ minute, super fascinating discussion about true crime books, and he was both very relaxing to be around and very charming (and so tall! and I’m a 6' tall lady!). So... I choose to believe he is probably pretty awesome.

I believe he took a bit of a break a year or a bit longer ago due to the sadly unexpected death of his girlfriend (I can’t recall if they were engaged or not), so he just wasn’t up to producing content for a while, understandably. But he is back and as fantastic as ever!

Oh man, yes, please do. He’s one of the most consistently on point perspectives re: race, politics, and pop culture around, and I’ve been following his videos for years.

Definitely dig around YouTube (or probably even Twitter) and see if you can’t find some video! Some great ones were already popping up later that same night. There was a great moment when she was like, “So many hits... And we’re just getting started!” She is so great.

Awesome, and YES. It was so, so good. I’m glad you got to witness the greatness, too! (And I agree re: the venue, too. Sometimes I can find the Bowl a bit... much, but it ended up being just right for this.)

Thank you for all the info! I haven’t had as many outlets as I’ve needed lately, and it’s been a pretty constantly fucked up year, so I need to look into this. I really appreciate it!

Funny, I swear you could easily chop off at least 30 minutes from just about every film he’s made (if not more!) and they’d all be much better for it.

I’ve seen her a couple times before, but this was by far the best show of hers I’ve ever seen. Which, considering she’s now 51 and just had a damn baby, is incredible! She sang the whole show live while dancing like she’s 20 years younger! Insane!

The only correct take on this obnoxious news comes from the delightful and consistently amazing Jay Smooth (if you are not aware of him and his fantastic videos, please familiarize yourselves immediately):

Yup. I think I’ve basically just given up at this point.

My favorite ridiculous disaster movie, which I think was either on Netflix or just a crappy SyFy movie (honestly not sure which, they’re equally likely) was AIRPLANE VS. VOLCANO. Exactly what you would expect; so much more than you might hope.

I cloned plants when I was 9 and thought it was pretty cool, but this is beyond-beyond next level and I love her. I hope she stays just as curious and continues to do more awesome shit, which she seems pretty well-equipped to do.

Late as hell to this post, as I am about half the time, but I would love to hear more about your experience with online therapy! How’d you find what you did, how do you approach it, and how helpful do you think it’s been so far?

Ugh, now I know I can’t watch this. I had a tendon injury/tear in high school, and there was a terrible stretch of maybe 10 seconds where I actually believed I could stand back up (and briefly did!). I’m pretty sure it was just shock fucking with me, because of course immediately afterward the entire leg disappeared

I considered that once, but from what I’ve heard from friends who did so, it pales in comparison (and reliability) to that fan app, F1LT, that existed some years ago, which was incredible. Paying for a downgrade is tough to motivate myself to do.

Legion is just so good.

Unsurprisingly, a LOT of ignorance re: how the bookselling and publishing worlds work here in the comments. That said...

Yeah, I’ve noticed this. I’m a SoCal native, so I grew up with it, and I’ve always loved it. But at the end of the day? All we’re talking about here is “favorite fast food burger,” not “greatest burger I’ve ever had in my LIFE” or something insane like that, and I wish people would quit pretending like these are

Ack, bummer! (Honestly though, my one serious sports-related injury was a muscle tear, and those are something your body never forgives you for, so I kind of wish I HAD broken my foot instead!)
