Paddle board out? Yay!
I feel this too. My father gave up his life to be the sole burden carrier for my depressed mother, who only shit talks him and creates hateful emotional traps, especially around his children.
This article bugs me. I spent several years being the support for a loved one with depression and reading articles like this, which only served to make me feel like the burden of making the relationship work was put on me and any sympathy for what the support person is going through is minimized. And no, saying “it…
I don’t know about you, but someone in this story is definitely missing something.
Or maybe our cynical attitude is there for a reason? And that is a terrible reflection on the ethics in journalism as a whole?
I think she’s saying why would she go through all the trouble to lie and say it never happened when it would be easier for her to just say she was young and impressionable and ask for forgiveness. Just saying “it never happened” really doesn't work, ever.
i haven’t seen a ball kicked that hard since my my four year old kicked my nut sack while i was laying down watching the Full House episode where DJ has an abortion
Even though I love Djokovic, he has the benefit of not having to deal with Federer at his prime, and for the most part, Nadal when he isn’t injured.
When asked why she’d become a Mariners fan she said that, as a young girl, her favourite baseball player in the whole world had been Jamie Moyer.
What does world ranking matter? I thought this was about Grand Slams.
I’ve read it, more than once! Love Brian Phillips’ pieces on Fed as well.
Djokovic won the first set, Federer won the second set. The fact that both sets went to tiebreaks with each of them winning one each shows that they were definitely very tightly contested.
When you type it sounds lame too. I’m guessing if you said it in Jules from Pulp Fiction’s voice it might sound ok, but other than that...
I think his breakdown after the Aussie Open Finals loss to Nadal a few years ago was the only time he ever really emotionally reacted to his impending sports mortality, but since then he’s been as zen as a Buddhist cow. Thrilled me made the final this year, and loved his victory over Murray. Loved that his game is…
No doubt, he’s always been a total class act and gracious in defeat and in victory his entire career. He’s definitely been my favorite athlete outside team sports because he’s so good and so humble at the same time. I’ve never heard a bad word about the guy.
The nice thing about tennis, as opposed to boxing or football, is you can still enjoy watching an older player go out and compete against younger, stronger opponents without worrying they’re putting themselves in danger.
“Heartbreaking” is a pretty lazy media narrative to throw out there - Fed might lose a little sleep over the loss (especially not capitalizing in the first set) and be disappointed he couldn’t stick with Nole during the final two sets. I would think last year’s loss was more painful as he had Nole clearly on the ropes…
Djokovic grew up in war torn Serbia practising on courts only when the surrounding area had been bombed the previous night, figuring that bombs wouldn’t drop in the same area two nights in a row.
Are you gonna be okay?
