It looks like the first cyclist on the scene was a delivery rider - presumably non-English speaking and not likely to want to stick around for the cops in a state like AZ where reporting an accident can get you deported. Second rider looks pretty clueless though.

I might be putting one and one together and getting free, but it seems like the cyclist and the driver had some sort of business just out of frame, and the cyclist was making a hasty get away before dropping something important enough to go back and get.

This seems like a reasonable explanation for the type of injury, but is tough to swallow given safety inspections and the expertise these teams have in building and maintaining these cars. Then again, anything can fail.

I know. It’s so strange that one of the biggest car sites in the world is covering the rebuild of the biggest car show in the world after the world’s biggest car journalist was fired from it.

Yeah, I don’t quite understand why they don’t make the big cars more like the Lights formula, with less downforce and thus less aero wash allowing them to run together like this. Even if they were going a little bit slower than they do now, they’d put on such an incredible show that almost no one would notice or care…
