I’m giving you a star because I feel like the conversation deserves it if not the comment itself.

Here’s my takeaway, I’ll share it; for all the negative aspects of internet journalism which Jalopnik has to accept as a car-blog (and Gawker baby) there is one, great big positive - the discovery, development and promotion of new and upcoming talent.

Is it really though? Honestly, I don’t know.

Part of it, sadly, is just the nature of the game and we, as readers of generally free stuff, should probably keep that in mind but all the same there’s a tenuously justifiable sense of entitlement by those long-timers who think maybe this should be done that way or that should be done this way.

I learned to drive in a Type II we’d taken across the country (Canada) and back. What started as youthful contempt for a less-than-modern car has, over the decades, grown into a deep, abiding love for the damn things. It was terrible, but it was also splendorous.
