I was 18 or 19 when Hybrid Theory came out and even I knew it was crap, but dammit if that didn't stop me from really enjoying it and Meteora for a few years in my early twenties. I'm still too embarrassed to put them on my iPod, but I must admit an occasional longing to listen to them again.

I agree with this, because you could make the point that anyone in these circumstances would act the same way. But even so, it's worth talking about the specific issues the youth are going through. And acknowledging that while young men and women of the 1700s were just as horny as the ones we have today, that perhaps

But there IS lots of good art out there that does just that, isn't there? I'm not saying art should just exist to criticize things, so perhaps "critique" is a better word. Art critiques all classes and races and belief systems. I'm not saying art needs to be made solely to criticize things, but couldn't an argument be

Well this I do agree with, although I think there is a lot more of the opposite in pop culture these days. Stuff that needlessly glorifies the Millenials and talks about how freakin' sweet we are and open-minded and gonna save the universe but with no substance to back it up whatsoever.

I have a sincere question: Is it possible to criticize or otherwise make negative commentary on the younger generation and have it be valid and applicable? Or are younger generations just off limits because "the old have always complained about the young"? I get this vibe (especially from fellow Millenials!) that

I would rather be a part of Generation Y because it sounds like Generation Why? and then the one after us would be Generation Z, which fits because modern society will be ending right about then.

All this Moorcock-inspired music! And to think I also just got into UFO's live album this week.

My wife snickers when I mention Michael Moorcock, but I kind of see it as the manliest of all names.

Oh my gosh, how did I never hear of either of these things? Going to go torrent me some Hawkwind FLACs pronto!!  The Sword has a song about taking the black?! I so completely love their tribute to Heavy Metal-esque sci-fi fantasy: Warp Riders. Thank you both for kickstarting my weekend with this stuff.
