why
Why do we pretend the Golden Globes are anything but a joke, year after year?

Ahhh, WHFS. This was really the last time that station was worth a shit - yeah you had to hear Lightning Crashes and Bang and Blame every fucking hour but they played a LOT of interesting off-the-beaten-path stuff. By the turn of the century they were playing Creed and shit and it just fell apart. The El Zol debacle

That would never work, Malkmus has wit.

I am, er, @lethargiclad

Another "What about" post
Nobody mentioned Beyond the Valley of the Dolls? That is THE decadent, insane, eccentric-packed cinematic party in my book.

Yeah The Only Time is probably the album's highlight for me. That second chorus with the live drums is the best damn thing. And "my moral standing is lying down" is pretty a clever lyric, especially for fucking Trent Reznor.

Oh but he is, HE IS. 50 seriously gives no fuck, it's pure unfiltered id.

I've been waiting so long for this day
I'm one of those "season 6 is the best of the series" people, but even if you end up disagreeing I can't wait to see your reaction to where they take the show this year. Love it or hate it, it's definitely an ambitious and fascinating ride.

Thanks for the recommendations, but how about behind-the-scenes stuff? What's the best book (documentaries would also be acceptable) for a factual, well-written overview of the industry's sordid underbelly? That's actually what got me into it in the first place, looking up these wrestlers I knew of as a kid and

Might as well ask here
Any chance of a pro wrestling Gateways to Geekery or Primer one of these days? Or does it not count because of the sports aspect?

Where does Buzz Aldrin fall on the list? Now that, that was some uncomfortable TV.

well
*I* read the whole thing. Ignore these other assholes.

Daniel Tosh doesn't deserve to be on that list.

As a former film major I loved that line so, so much. I knew way too many kids like that in my classes.

Michaelangelo Matos and half the commenters…
…have completely missed the point. The question is about inescapable pop culture you're familiar with DESPITE NOT HAVING BEEN DIRECTLY EXPOSED TO IT. Mentioning a song that you've heard a million times and hate is the opposite of that.

Thank you lexicon, I've mentioned this to people before; ignore the gimmicky raps and you've still got a bunch of sick beats left over. I could probably listen to the Jump instrumental all day.

I'm a little late here, but E-603's Torn Up out-does Girl Talk at his own game imo. There's a lot of different ways to do a mash-up but as far as the genre-busting party mix goes, Torn Up is the peak so far.

For real though, they are aware that a 4 year old has already spent a large chunk of his life with a mouth full of boob, right? And let's not even get into the supposed harmfulness of kids being exposed to nudity in the first place…
