Russel-Stover and Whitman are just okay. R. M. Palmer’s is the only chocolate I’ll actually turn down. God, it’s awful.

I’m in the same boat as you and yancorp. Bastion was real good, Transistor paired a story and aesthetic I was all about with gameplay I was kind of lukewarm on, I barely got anywhere in Pyre (but I do admit I admire the sheer, uh, balls of the premise).

Shit yeah, let’s talk about Ar tonelico! I encourage anyone who’s interested in the series to look for some of the subtitled music on YouTube (most of the songs are partially or entirely written in various dialects of the two main languages in the games, Hymnos and Ar Ciela, both exhaustively developed conlangs, so

I have both of those! Got a specific link?

Allison’s got my vote and also reminded me how much I miss pumpkin butter. And apple butter. Anyone got any good recipes for either, or are they kinda those things that are so much better to just buy?

For better or worse, most SMT games are very different from Persona - and from each other (SMT base game is straight JRPG, Persona is rpg/dating sim/teenage angst simulation, Devil Survivor is turn-based strategy, Devil Summoner (except Soul Hackers) is real-time combat, etc etc etc. There’s even some Pokemon-alikes

If You Still Believe is still one of my favorite VG theme songs. It’s a pity that the rest of the game didn’t live up to the music, but a lot of the old RPGs I kind of have a soft spot for are in the same boat (the Ar tonelico games, Tales of Legendia, Legend of Mana...)

oh man this is such a good idea. Thanks, Allison!

Oh look, it’s something that absolutely doesn’t need to be a browser extension and could be entirely restricted to their website.

Knockin’ Boots really does seem like the name for a wine from some place trying too hard to be quirky. Washington?

Time to fall down a research hole. Thank you very much for bringing this to my attention!

Corn dogs and soft pretzels cinch my vote for Marnie. I would not say no to a lemon slush or garlic fries, though.

Speaking of, can anyone recommend a good sprue cutter/snipper tool? I’m looking into finally doing the models that I’ve been having lying around roughly forever, and the only sprue cutters I know of (coming from tabletop gaming) are the Games Workshop ones, which are like 40 bucks and that’s not quite the life I’m

the shame is part of the depression

Sorry, I subscribe to radical macanarchy and will continue eating box mac and cheese shamefully at 3 am.

If their veggie balls are as good as their veggie dogs, I’m sold. I’m not even vegetarian and I get one every time I go to IKEA because they’re good.

Happy birthday and many happy returns!

I’m surprised that they went for buckeyes over Cincinnati chili, considering how much better known (and possibly reviled) the latter is.

The Food Timeline is such a wonderful resource; I do a lot of food research and that and Medieval Cookery are my go-tos.

Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Golden Grahams.
