For the 10,000th time today, I’m genuinely sorry for the abuse and general bullshit you women endure from my gender on a daily basis.
Here’s the deal. I ally as best I can but this is derailing nonsense. You know damn well that the phrase “if men could get pregnant” is pointed straight at cis men. I’m sorry that you don’t like that it isn’t specified, but popping in here to scold people so you can what......feel better? Is dumb. This isn’t…
Okay, to play devils advocate, or just to have some fun dialogue:
If someone can be transgender, what’s stopping them from being “trans-race”? If she identifies herself as a black woman, who am I to say no, you can’t do that. Is someone who is transgender appropriating a gender? What difference is there with…
Nature gives people things like testes which produce testosterone, which gives them advantages in certain tasks. The sporting competitions try to adjust for this by having two divisions, one for people with testes and one without... that’s the argument here...
What ever the rational, what ever the fairness, the bottom line is this, from the standpoint of competitive drama the inclusion of Caster Semenya makes this the least compelling of all Olympic events. Medical conditions or medical loop-holes that supplant any stories of athletic or competitive prowess rob the sport of…
I don’t really think so, especially when it comes to elite athletic competitions.
No, but maybe it makes sense for her to be competing against men? She has XY chromosomes, IIRC.
Competition should be fair though. It's why steroids, hgh, and all types of cheating aren't allowed. Not saying semanya is a cheater but she's got an unfair advantage against those women.
I think the argument is more that Semenya should be competing against men instead of women. IIRC, she has internal testicles and is intersex.
However, we use some of those gifts of nature to come up with classes of competitors to make competitions more fair and interesting. For example, a woman who is 6'6" 200lbs would not be able to compete in the UFC because their highest weight class is 145lbs.
Here is my question: is a female athlete allowed to supplement her testosterone levels to match her hyperandrogenic rivals? Because if the answer is ‘no’ then they are stating that testosterone DOES have an effect on performance. You can’t have it both ways.
What. No. There are clear differences in performances between the genders. A woman would never get on the medal stand. Ever. (Excluding events such as shooting, equestrian, surfing, etc- more skill based than pure strength). While age differences may hinder the athletes in terms of performance, the difference in…
Lol right so the lobby is using her because she can’t have a voice or opinion of her own? God forbid anyone criticize sex work on Jezebel. 🙄🙄🙄
Here’s what the IOC has to say about intersex athletes, as well as transgender athletes:
Here’s what I don’t understand about trans. The entire idea of trans is that you should do what it takes in order to be comfortable in your skin, no matter what culture and society say about gender. But at the same time, trans at its core is desperately adherent to social gender norms, so much so that many seek to…
I'm happy to do anything you ask in order to be seen as female, but you have made it clear that nothing I can do will ever be enough. I could live on an island on my own, quietly identifying as female and it would still be construed as an attack on women, simply because I identifying as one.
"you need a while lot more to be a boy and that whole lot more for me is girl" seriously, what the hell are you even saying? See what I mean about wasting time quibbling about nomenclature? This is a needless battle you are fighting. Male and boy mean the same thing. The English language and science disagrees with…
Sex is not assigned at random it is a physiological description, no one is assigned female, you either are female or you are not. That is a person with two x chromosomes, ovaries, uterus, and vagina. Anyone else is not technically female, either intersex or male. You can describe yourself however you wish, that…
This is supposedly a feminist website, so I *should* be able to assume we'd all get the difference between sex (biology) and gender (social expectations/limitations based on sex.) So where in the world is cisgender privilege for women? We face discrimination ***whether or not*** we conform to feminine gender…
