The pickle thing is a running joke between the late night talkshow hosts at NBC. One of the props people gave the pickle to Conan O'Brien and when he left Late Night he gave it to Fallon. The pickle now lives in the ceiling of Jimmy's office.

Bill Hader has never been a guest writer. He was a part-time writer and he's been a full time writer for the show since he left SNL.
