You can always pack a portable honda generator in the back, which is like, actually small, portable, and convenient to move around on a worksite, unlike a 250" long 5,000lb F150.

11.3% of original owners keep them 15 years or longer, which is 1.8x the average. It’s ranked 5 on the list of cars kept longest; a list dominated by Toyota.

This. I don’t mind paying a few bucks more for less hassle and not having to play games negotiating

NOT that fast/powerful, NOT that useful since it’s 2-people only, NOT especially collectable with that mileage. WAY overpriced for a 16 YO truck.

The FOP and this were the most disturbing aspects to me:

The technical term is "Needle Dick".

None of what you said it true.

as much as I’m happy that we have Tesla alternatives, can they offer greater deal in term of performance compare to tesla ?”

Is there any sign they’ve been actually hesitant and not, you know, simply patient? It seems like Jalopnik thinks that because Toyota hasn’t been signalling the alarm to go all EV now, that they don’t have plans to. The Subaru Solterra (and it’s Toyota twin) didn’t just appear out of the ether.

This all seems like wishcasting.

They rolled it into having a working hydrogen fuel cell vehicle in 2015, before most of the Jalopnik favored manufacturers had even displayed a production ready BEV prototype. They’ve not been shy about betting on hydrogen, nor about saying they didn’t see a future for BEVs without the stability of solid state

Jalopnik decided on a narrative around Toyota. And even though every story about Toyota indicates otherwise, they stick to it, even if every article has to start with “Toyota unexpectedly.”

I don’t know why they keep trashing Toyota for the way they have approached electric vehicles. This is how they have always done things and have been successful doing it for decades.

1st: Toyota’s delay in entering the EV market should be expected.

Commemorating a quarter of a century of changing the conversation about itself!

Lowered duallies started as a way to get reasonable MPG out of a truck that sees endless paved highways towing and maintained dirt roads are the worst its going to see.

Maybe they don’t have the 3k to pay out of pocket for the new battery? I guess they could take out a subprime payday loan for the battery. Nope, I’d just sell it.

I think the angle of attack from Raph could be a little more nuanced. Objectively, it’s a gorgeous car and a well done restoration.

The problem with it comes down to all the “lore” that is attached to it by the people who are doing the showing and collecting. Regardless of whether or not it can be proven it was a

I’ll stop blaming traffic for my preference for autos in a daily driver when stick lovers quit claiming “rowing their own” makes their shitbox “fun” to drive, and if you’re claiming the manual is more fun because it’s in a WRX and your previous car is a clapped out Camry, you too can STFU.
