I like the Windows 7 Aero Effects as much as the next guy, but I'm still in love with OS X's window design. I actually have a Snow Leopard theme on Windows 7, which makes it especially confusing since my Mac and PC are side-by-side, haha.

I was in the same boat as you. I finally got it to work with QSynergy on the Mac as the server and QSynergy (which is basically the Synergy after this update) on Windows as the client.
I smiled when I saw "synergy," then I busted out laughing when I realized the lyric is "promote synergy."

I'm sorry you're having problems, but I've had a Seagate external for a year or so and it has yet to give me any problems. I have to repair it with Disk Utility every now and then, but it works flawlessly on Windows.
