Even if you argue that the prequel trilogy is fine in of itself (with which I'd disagree), they are a failure. You can't watch them seperate from the originals and the originals were never just "fine". They were great genre defining milestones in cinematic history.
And what did the new movies so far really add to

The T-1000 has only the matter he's made of. He can sit in a helicopter and have 4 arms, probably on the expense of his legs. Also 50 arms would shift his center of mass and he'd fall over.
