I’m impressed with new struts, brakes, tires, and headlights. This was someone’s baby that they were spending money on to keep right.  Then the top frizzed out and the cost estimate to fix was high and the owner is looking for something new to play with.   I would get this thing in a heartbeat.

And really at under $5k for a P car, who cares if it blows it in a year from whatever (it won’t be IMS, as you noted). It would still be a great year with a cheap P car.

a $5k older Porsche is a lot like dating a stripper - a chunk of money, a lot of drama, pretty exciting while you are at it, and fun for a short time but not really a long term plan.

It’s $4,800 OBO!!!! This is not a NP/CP car, If you’re looking for a weekend toy to learn to wrench or fun car to daily, this is it.

I would buy it, totally expecting the IMS to go, and then part out the car. An IMS repair can be a solid $2500.

I would like for part two of this article to focus on how to bid/buy/ship with minimal pain.

Part three could be, oh I don’t know, how to make your wife understand that the household definitely needs a fleet of imported Japanese iron.

If I hit the lottery jackpot, my wife would never know. She’d just wonder why a few dozen Right-Hand-Drive cars suddenly ended up in our Driveway...and front yard....and back yard.
