Forbidden West was really good, don’t get me wrong, but that sense of wonder the first had was gone for me going in, obviously. I got the Ubisoft fatigue barely halfway through the main story, so many icons on the map, so many things to do, so many repetitive tasks, it just became a bit too much.

Nope. Fucking pass.

Say what you will about the other aspects of the game, but I do not need another game made by Rocksteady that has large sections based around battling tanks.

Good.

At least the ones who beat me do.

I’m a native English and Japanese speaker. I’m an attorney who specializes in international litigation, and particularly linguistic aspects of evidence. I’ve translated 100 page long contracts where every word of the contract needs to match the corresponding legal meaning in the other language.

As someone who worked as a professional translator, I agree that this is pretty much a lost cause. Things like this don’t translate well, or at all. It would be like trying to translate a crossword puzzle into another language and still expecting it to work with the original spaces provided, or even for the wordplay

Not a chance. It’s literally a manga about decoding and solving puzzles. When the puzzles are language-based, as many of them are, they become difficult or even impossible to translate, let alone localize. I promise you, the writer (singular, not writers) is spending his time thinking up compelling puzzles as well as

unless he’s paid by word I could see how at some point it would become unworthy of the time to take in some translation works like that

That’s nice. The merger still shouldn’t be approved though.

I have some friends who are or have been writers in TV shows and/or scripts writers. They figure we are about a year away from some greedy producer to pitch a 100% AI generated show. The whole weird Seinfeld Twitch thing was a great proof of concept that people would watch it.

Assholes. They’re assholes. Trying to cheat the system by using an AI that’s trained on an indeterminately large number of stories written by actual humans? That’s asshole behavior, if you ask me. I also think it’s gonna get worse before it gets better--maybe in a year or two’s time, AI stuff will be corralled or

I’ve got a feeling that’s gonna wind up a major use case.

Fallen Order itself even has a hand amputation in one of the boss fight cutscenes. I have no idea what made it okay to add dismemberment there, but against every other enemy your lightsaber is a glowing baseball bat.

Jump to 2:40 if you want to see it:

And no, this isn’t one of those “I say a friend of mine told me but I really mean myself” kinds of situations.”

It’s truly been blowing my mind watching people work so hard to go to bat for a game they’d unflinchingly give a 5/10 to if it were published by Ubisoft or EA without the franchis tie-in. This whole thing is being held up by nostalgia, bigotry, and childish contrarianism-for-the-sake-of-it

Single staffing a retail store is dangerous and stupid. Especially when that single employee is there for nearly 12 hours. Good for her. Your life is worth more than a pittance from a company that doesn’t care about you in the slightest.

Field Programmable Gate Array, basically a hardware level emulation technology where you can reprogram logic gates in such a way as to match the original logic gates on the original devices. “Field Programmable” because the original logic gates were essentially baked in at the time they were made. I believe the
