Hearing that the game is a very bog-standard “AAA” release just makes the garbage people championing it to own the libs look all the sillier.

100% agree, I could have worded my reply a little better.

I’d definitely be uncomfortable with it but I think he viewed it as being kind of...juvenile, maybe? Games are still so young that it’s easy to write things like that off as silly distractions (if you’re willing to be generous to a saintly degree) for people with too much time on their hands, where deepfakes have the

Love that statement from Adamcik.

That last one is an angle to that I wouldn’t have considered, because my big assumption around RTO is execs not wanting to acknowledge they’re paying tons of money for office space nobody needs to use.

If you’ll forgive a little bit of further dismissal on my part, I wonder if the Discourse(TM) around the game in the nine years since release versus that of the show means the narrative was always going to work better in a non-interactive form. It’s a story we’ve already seen before - if Cormac McCarthy was deceased

It’s another instance of Valve’s bizarre structure and fear of having any oversight creating headaches for other folks. In this case with Armored Core I think it’s mostly silly (it’s from the current mainstream megahit studio, no tag in the world could stop sales) but I have a similar sympathy for small devs in this

Her platform, fame, and wealth give her an automatic legitimacy in the eyes of many (whether that’s earned or not is a different discussion, this is just how society sees it) meaning that every time she shares some view that at its core equates to “trans men are not men, trans women are not women” she is lending that

I defended my argument in this section already. There’s nowhere for this to go. Rowling funds hate. This game funds her. If someone is okay with taking part in that, knowing what the consequences of her wealth have been, there is nothing more to be said. This isn’t “I’m open to being convinced about pineapple on pizza

I’m glad you’ve found a way to be so at peace with yourself while giving money to fund hate.

If there’s something stopping someone from coming to “my side” when that “side” is “trans people should get to live” then there is nothing I can say to convince them. It’s as simple as that.

“Do you think a person donating money to causes supporting transgender people who then also buys this game is making a net negative difference?”

You can’t “take Potter back” if you’re handing her money for it. You’re not reclaiming a slur by giving the people using it against you a thumbs-up because they came up with such a fun word.

A thought this list reminds me of from when I played through the trilogy: who was the first human to try it? Someone had to be the first, once we’d made contact with the Citadel races and peace with the Turians. I want them to be remembered.

I might’ve misused those terms in this context because now that you say it, Animal Crossing (even now as indies put out more - for lack of a better term - “cozy” games) is a fairly unique series to be coming from one of the biggest publishers. They even pushed its release date back an entire season just to make sure

You could lash out at someone who does charity work, attends protests, and does actual work for the LGBTQIA+ community because they seperated the art from the artist and didn’t participate in Slacktivism.”

I’m very, *very* curious how much work it would take to get collections of these on PC. Considering how many are stuck in the Hell that is the PS3, I imagine quite a bit.

Saw an interesting comment in a thread about this opining that the complexity and length of development on what we consider “AAA” tentpoles for each platform holder might be hitting a point where they don’t elegantly slot into generations anymore. If one of your teams *starts* development on their big system-seller

Cool beans. It wasn’t worth it then and this isn’t worth it now.
