I did this for my 5.5G, used the Dock Adaptor to make a dock for it. I do recommend using hot glue on the dock connector to help it stick to the dock adapter over electrical tape though.

I've been looking for something like this for ages. Best of all, its cheap and a lot more tidy than my current solution, 3 rubber bands wrapped around my Sony MDR-V300s.

If you want to go really far with the soundproofing, use an egg carton and wrap really thick felt to it, then glue or tape it to your wall. The acoustic-absorbing qualities of both egg cartons and felt should dampen the noise enough so that your neighbors don't complain.
I wouldn't be too quick to flame if I were you....this probably DOES work on older cars, from around 1980-early 1990s. Of course this hack wouldn't work on BMW's or Mercedes-Benzes from this decade, but i'm sure that older cars can be broken into this easily.
