America did not advance as quickly without its rivalry with russia.

Well…I can see why rose might end up confused. Some people do keep monkeys as pets, so the idea that there would be a smaller, similar species to humans sticking around them as pets…

yeah, in my head, I imagined steven explaining this situation as "Jasper showed up…. but things simply got… awkward. As in… Sardonyx awkward."

War and extermination have entirely different implications, although both may entail large scale death. The only difference between mustard gas and the gases used to get rid of termite infestation is that the former are used on 'enemies' that pose a real threat and you at least consider them somewhat on your level,

This episode might have had more impact if we had another episode as build it. It could have worked, since I was getting horror movie vibes from the slow break down of the boat.

I more assumed that when Jasper referred to her as a 'monster', she was referring to the obvious role Lapis was intended to perform prior to the war, which can be summed up in one question: "What is a gem that can move oceans… doing on a world covered in 70% ocean".

The summer of steven continues to throw in elements, actions, and lessons that steven will need to put together in the future.

Always nice to see steven fulfilling his greater purpose: using weird powers and schemes to provide counseling to people.

It is practice.

And we continue to see the theme of the summer of steven: preparing for war.

That is actually why they eat eucalyptus leaves. Because they want to stand behind one of the best murderers.

I finally realize the theme for this season: jerks, and how to deal with them. First marty, then lars, and now "I almost slept with two kids in a trench coat" guy. And the secret is that the entire thing is about how to deal with jerks properly.

I feel this is an episode where steven fully fills in his role in the crystal gems: he is the only one with the ability to even begin to tackle the decades to eons of emotional problems they have running on. There was always a bit of pressure for steven to 'fill in rose's shoes'. But he has the ability to do so much

Well, the money is easy enough to write off.

I found the release schedule for this event interesting. Since I am fairly sure that they released it as a steven bomb in europe (ie- all those leaks you likely watched already…)

I can certainly understand why they were sent after jasper- Jasper's role in all this was the bash in the face of anyone that messed with the project, including the people working on it. It was Jasper's responsibility to keep Peridot from doing something as stupid as grabbing the diamond phone and insulting yellow

I can't help but laugh at the sudden change of attitude when going from peridot's call and steven's call.

I love the fact that this takes sitcom situations and bashes heads against real psychological issues that couldn't be solved entirely in a single afternoon special- PTSD, and perhaps depression.

Admittedly, I was already making several arguments that peridot was also abandoned, stranded, and left for dead.
