This is really interesting and thoughtful because it strikes a balance I find really necessary. I get the importance in recognizing our biological differences (my period actually IS horribly debilitating and I'm going to take off work for it, thanks) but it's dangerous to put an emphasis on hormones when Hiiiiii, we

Sex-worker-exclusionary radical feminist, I presume? How's the hateful slut-shaming prudery in the name of 'feminism' going? Are you bigot feminists being successful in dismantling the patriarchy by shaming women for their sexual choices? And how are the T.E.R.F.s- trans-exclusionary radical feminists- doing these

I know, right? Sex workers are not oppressed. They are totally accepted by society and don't face any more stigmatization, criminalization, or victim-blaming than the modestly-dressed chaste girl who is not a sex worker! Feminism- so supportive and helpful toward other women!

Oh god, no wonder you were convinced by a sob story, you're a total softie. I didn't invent incest, but in instances where it is consensual and both parties would pass a mental health test otherwise, it's usually because of what I mentioned above.

She of course does not substantiate how having sex for money is the "antithesis" of marriage. No surprise that her statements are all a priori generalizations or pearl-clutching.

Prostitute requires sex. You can be a sugar baby for sitting and looking cute a few hours a month.

You're the one who brought up banging your parents. Don't go there if you're not prepared to go there.

The reality of being a legal adult is that you have less legal recourse if someone manipulates you into taking a job you don't really want. That isn't an issue unique to sex work. The last sentence of your first graph could easily be about the fashion industry.

In her case it was. In lots of cases it isn't. Being against an entire industry because there are predatory practices in some sectors of it is just silly. There are people being forced to work in labor industries, under the threats of violence. That doesn't mean all jobs in labor are exploitative.

I think it's all about making the outraged feel better about themselves.

Sex work is one of those things that makes most people totally forget about logic.

Gotta hate a woman who might be strong?

I don't remember why I originally disliked her, but these days I dislike her because everyone keeps telling me it's not okay to dislike her.

I think actually taking offense to putting Sofia on a pedestal is one of the biggest wastes of emotion I've heard of. I highly doubt she was forced to do it, and clearly she finds it hilarious.

Yeah. I was 19 when I read it and I didn't get the big deal.

I dunno where this was originally found, but I used this photo instead of writing an actual review on Goodreads.

Yeah, no one should try kink based on this book alone. It is a terrifying thought that makes me want to print off instructions and insert them into copies at my local Barnes and Noble.

Bill O'Reilly said the same thing. I've always hated the myth that people need to present as sexually modest because of their gender, race, or both. It's so damaging.

More harmful than helpful? I'm genuinely curious because one of the reasons I love her is that she's an actual black superstar that can penetrate into certain neighborhoods where The World Outside to them is formed exclusively by what they see in movies/billboards/magazines/TV (white) and I am amazed at what a
