Great engine but everything that is attached to it is pretty terrible. Specifically things made from plastic

I have a C5 A6 2.7T which should be the most unreliable car on earth.. I bought it off a a client because she took great care of it. The body is dinged up on panels but it’s been a great beater for me
I have one at my shop now that needs a replacement engine. Cost 3-5K used for the engine depending on mileage... Currently it’s worth more in parts. I have another client that bought a turbo cooper S.. He’s up to 4k in repairs in 2 months, we have replaced the chain, guides etc..common issues. Replaced the turbo…
I remember picking up a BMW M3 that had some sorta “Jocky” Limiter on it until about 50 kms of driving.
I own a E34 535i. Can be repaired with basic hand tools
The American brands still haven’t figure out the dealership experience yet.. My local BMW dealer and Mercedes dealer are fantastic. I was once picking up my car from BMW and ended up staying for another hour. Fresh made in house sandwiches, pressed coffee, a waitress that brings you said items. I sometimes pick up…
Ding Ding! Not to mention a set of brake pads from PFC or Pagid will run around 500$-600$ PFC or GYRO discs? 1200-1300$+ per axle. Crap I know guys that will destroy a set of Hoosiers after 1 DE weekend, sometimes two sets.
LOLOL this car was never tracked at those service prices ,actually any track rat would never buy a GT3 with PCCB and if it did happen regular steel brakes would be installed quickly... I laughed again at the bringing it in for squeeks and rattles. Those are 100% normal on a GT3, shocked he didn’t ask for rear seats to…
Those were great around here until all those reality ttv shows started airing. Then suddenly people were horribly over paying for even the rattiest car/truck.I remember last year a 2004 Mazda 3 hatch, with rusted fenders, a smashed rear hatch and no keys selling for 4000$ plus fees
They have a “cheap” day here. It’s chaos!
Canada checking in... I dabble in used cars sometimes and have some good contacts at dealers for trade in’s... Awhile back my bro in law was looking for an E90 LCI 328i, I found him one at a VW dealer that was about to be sent to auction after sitting on the lot for a few weeks. I went in person to the used car sales…
The comments on Jalopnik are always more helpful than the actual article content
Yep that’s how THEY ALL ARE up here in Canada. I had a client come in with one, he was a client before he yelled at me for refusing to work on his car because I couldn’t lift it... the floor and rockers were gone.
Do you know why these cars are worthless? Because they’re complete piles of crap. It’s one of the few cars I refuse to work on.. Not only did they rust to pieces but the typical people who buy them just don’t know any better right until you hand them the first service bill. Some parts are interchangeable with Fords…
Same dealing in auto racing. We have helped other teams at a weekend event but noted what parts were used or crew.. then come Monday morning back at the shop an invoice was being written up then emailed out.
I agree with that. I also find riding in the suburbs to be more dangerous than a denser area of town.
I dated a woman who was involved in cycling events( I cycle but not even that level). They had some pretty top tier sponsors including the local Volvo/BMW dealer, Cervelo and the lot. I got to ride in one of the cars and attend the pre race meeting. Very specific set of rules regarding how you should pass water…
Now let’s take it from someone who works on these cars often... That rear clam shell... 35K? Try like 50K and that’s if the person who owns it decides to sell it to you. Pretty much all body parts don’t exist for these cars without going through some odd back channel. Ford does have a few items such as left…
Boris Johnson as well.
They way I look at it is that it’s actually a MultiMatic GT powered by Ford... Im really curious to know how much engineering Ford actually did. Me thinks they did the design bits, handed over an engine to MultiMatch and said “call us when it’s done”
