I am blessed to know many service members who are wonderful, but every time someone comes in and yells at me because my store doesn’t offer a military discount (“MY HUSBAND PUTS HIS LIFE ON THE LINE FOR YOUR COUNTRY AND YOU CAN’T GIVE ME 10% OFF MY DRESS?”) I understand, with deep, deep clarity, why they are hated

Actually, I clicked cuz I wanted to read all the snarky anti-Kardashian Jez comments.

I always felt compelled to look at her pictures not because she is pretty but because there is something about her that I couldn't put my finger on. She always has a vacant expression, with unfocused eyes and her mouth hanging open. The 2 younger ones do the same thing and I could never figure out how to describe it

You win the internet today. Everyone else go home.

Because they hate themselves. I knew someone like that once, and that was the truth for her.

Oh my god! I don't know which picture I like best! Such a sweet honey bear!

Those doggies need kisses RIGHT NOW!

Pibbles really are very sweet dogs; they become spoiled rotten when you give them love.

Pits and half-Pits are definitely not the pits.

Goddammit. Pits are the most eager to please, loyal dogs. All they want to do is please their owners. Mine was also abused, she was very nervous around men. Now she's spoiled rotten.

A DS commenter summed this up perfectly: "If you're hitting a one-year old, you're not even fucking trying to parent."

"I did then what I knew. Now I know better I do better"

I saw a good response to that today, which I am going to use. Here it is:

It should be pointed out that this is precisely why we need better protection for surrogates and children born via surrogate. Piece-meal, state-by-state nonsense isn't cutting it and real people are affected.

You know what the really great thing about your story is, though? It's that with your dad's help, your mom managed to break the cycle of abuse. She did it! That's amazing. It is so hard to break that hideous cycle, but she managed it. Good on your parents!
