China, Korea, Sri Lanka, Iran - all these countries I’ve found firsthand do not have the name change as a thing either and I’m pretty sure most of their neighbours are similar and have been....since we had surnames. I’ve found Italy, France, Greece, lot’s of places. It’s kind of not a big deal.
