I've been flying ~ 100k miles per year for work, for ten years or so up until about a year ago.

But if everyone realized they could get the upgraded seat for free, no one would ever pay for it in advance.

Because they charge $109 more for the exit row. If they let her sit there for free, they're losing that money. Not saying I agree with the extra charge, that's just how airlines work.

Just so long as we're all clear that her arrest and detention had nothing to do with safety and everything to do with money...
