Agreed, but the Rivian is actually in production, and quite a few have been put out in the wild for reviews and such. It “seems” a lot more real right now than the Tesla CT.

Just did a little research on my truck and the damper. They were not a factory installed item. They were part of a TSB for the 2004-2005 F-150, if the customer complained about vibrations coming from the rear of the truck, specifically “bed shake”.

Holy sh*t I have one of those Active Tuned Mass Modules (ATMMs) on the rear frame of my 2005 F-150.  I had occasion to be crawling around under there, and saw something weird bolted to the frame.  Now I see that pic, and I know what it.  Wow

That’s a valid point, but both NBA teams get to take advantage of that restricted area, not just the one that’s behind on the scoreboard.

Why would anyone buy the Tesla CyberTruck when this exists?

Agree, DRS is a gimmick for no other reason that it means more overtakes, which is good for TV. I get it, but I don’t like the fakeness of it. Analogy would be if a  football team at the top of the division had to play with 11 players, but the team in 2nd gets a bonus 12th player on the field.

Yeah, I know. It’s an embarrassment. I have voted with my wallet, at least to some degree. I was a season ticket holder for many years, but eventually my dislike of the name/imagery/chop became too much for me, and I did not renew. Told them why. But, yeah, I should have acted sooner, can’t defend it.

Oh, absolutely. Money is the root. Liberty Media owns my favorite MLB team, as well. I just think F1 went too far this season to prioritize exciting competition over letting everyone compete with consistent application of the rules.

I literally double-taked on the photo because I thought two images had been stitched together. Kind of like how Google maps sometimes screws up and street view shows a weird stich.

Liberty Media is an entertainment company. And a company is focused on nothing but profit. This season’s F1 season has been awash in controversy and inconsistencies, but that doesn’t matter, because the ratings are up. Especially in the super desirable US market.  So, what motivation is there for F1 to be anything but

Red flag the race, everyone gets whatever tires they have available on the car. Then bring everyone out behind the safety car for one lap, then go racing. See if Hamilton can hold off Verstappen, and also give Sainz a shot at either P1 or P2. The decision made yesterday Allowed Max to get on the back bumper of Lewis,

Not often that I say F1 should take a page out of NASCAR, but NASCAR extends the end of the race so it doesn’t end under caution.

Verstappen got 12.5 points at Spa, and LH got 7.5. As stated in the article, it was less than 1/2 distance, so half the usual point amounts were awarded. But totally agree that NO points should have been given, it shouldn’t have counted as a race, and it was 100% a farce.

He is brilliant in very specific ways, but completely idiotic in other ways. I have his name muted on Twitter, both to block him, and his legions of fellaters.

You probably know this is no longer true, but you did link to a four year old link, so maybe not. Waze is fully available on Carplay now, and has been for at least a few years. I’m no Apple fanboi, and Carplay is still buggy sometimes, but Waze is no longer a real reason to dis on CarPlay.

Because Kinja, I cant tell which of my comments you are replying to here, so not sure specifically how to reply. But anyway, I not actually mad at anyone here, I just thought the article was unfair.

Wait, so “don’t be an asshole” is victim blaming?

All true, but the reality is that when you go to a quick lube place, you know you are going to get THAT level of service. It’s not a question of “I paid my money, I demand my service”, it’s a question of what can the employees do competently. I make the judgement call that if I want to feel confident in the work a

I usually give Jalopnik writers every benefit of the doubt, but I take a number of issues with this article.

That’s stock.  It’s a removable engine access cover.
