Argh, All I came here for was the awesome Mario background. Oh, and in OS X you can toggle auto-hiding the dock with Command-Option-D.

As for gaming, Cube 2: Sauerbraten at [sauerbraten.org.] Sauerbraten is a fairly good open source game, one of its biggest advantages being an in-game intuitive level editor. Try it!
