Well, I’m a Millenial mom, and I adore the movie. I get why it’s not for everyone, but I loved Crowe and Bettany’s chemistry. The acting was great all around, especially the child actors, particularly the kid who played Midshipman Blakeley (and Octavian in Rome). Plus the cinematography was excellent.

I am a megafan of the novels (all 20 of them), as they are relentlessly entertaining, well-written, humorous, and intelligent, and reflect author Patrick O’Brian’s limitless font of details of world and British history, science, the arts of sailing and sea warfare, and English society. Master and Commander is on my favorite movies list and I’ve probably watched it at least 5 times.  Last time I checked I was still a woman.
