I had so many friends tell me how great this episode was, that by the time I actually watched it, I was so oversold on it that I just thought it was OK. Is it ruined forever now?

I forgot to mention that, but I totally agree. If they truly had high hopes, they'd release it in that summer May-August corridor. I tried to argue this point with a friend of mine (an avowed Deadpool fan), but I think that either his blind love for the character blinded him to this fact, he doesn't know about movies…

I'm firmly in the 'bet against him' camp. The diehards are going to go see it, and then it will quietly disappear (see also 2009's 'Watchmen' adaptation).

OK, I'm intrigued. Any way to watch this without cable? Hulu, perhaps?
