I liked the episode but it was a step down imo, overall the story-beats were just way too familiar and played out, it was more or less the typical hero struggle, and there was some real clunky dialogue.

Still a weak excuse though, they could very well have worked around their limitations, it's not like we needed a fully realized Dragon like in GoT. Hell, we didn't even necessarily need to see his training, just showing his interaction with the other habitants of Kun Lun and how he evolved over there would have been

Oh, ok, you're probably right then, I just don't remember all these convoluted stories with the League and Merlyn, but I do remember that he lost his hand in a pathetic and unfitting way that really made him look shitty as a villain. Man, I love how Legends turned all those great villains back around and made them do

Haha, I didn't even notice that, that was some fitting unintentional humor. I guess whenever I'm on the AVClub I just can't get the word "snark" out of my head, probably because the AVClub is like 80% snark.

Yeah, if they absolutely have to reuse LC and IF please make it a Heroes for Hire season, I really wouldn't care for either LC S2 or IF S2

Ok, you might be right on that actually… but it still came out pretty much out of nowhere after the more serious and grounded tone that preceded it.

I am getting really sick of the hard-on for New York present in so much Marvel superhero content, I get it, it's a cool city, I've been there and enjoyed it .But who fucking cares, come on!

Ugh, having the premise of the sequel be to go to the Internet really is off-putting, I can just imagine them making many jokes about Twitter, or 4Chan or Tumblr or whatever, I don't know know what any of these things are!

Now that I think of it, both Luke Cage and Iron Fist really suffered from adhering to the standard superhero tropes, what with their origin stories, their dumb moral dilemmas, their angsty attitude, their confrontation with their past etc…

Great overall analysis, though I feel you are being a little harsh, for me it was more of a 7/10 overall.
But seriously, why the fuck would they not explore more of Kun Lun? Maybe they were afraid of even more backlash because having asian monks train a white guy is "racist"?

For me IF did get of the ground but I mostly agree, overall there is a sense that Netflix isn't course-correcting the obvious flaws with their shows but just doubling down on them, the quality of their shows has been steadily decreasing which is worrying… I hope the 8 episode-long Defenders can course correct and make

Mostly agreed, though I didn't hate the second half of DD S2 as much as you or most other people, it was just the typical Netflix "being all over the place and stretching the material to fill 13 episodes" effect

Someone really should edit down all these Marvel Netflix shows, I'm pretty sure they could all be fantastic and well paced 6 to 9 hour long movies

I seem to be in the minority here but I actually liked the 1st half of IF way more then the 2nd half, to me it was really similar to Luke Cage in how it started to come of the rails to end up with full blown unintentional schlock at the end

Well, sure, I would be fine without any more IF or LK, but since we obviously will get more of them I'd rather have 1 show with both of them and exploring a new dynamic than another 2 solo shows for the worst parts of the Marvel Netflix roaster

So what would your final ranking for the Netflix shows be like now?
For me it's:

I mean, then again Finn Jones and Mike Colter didn't do the best job with their characters, and their respective solo shows are the least well liked in the Marvel Netflix verse, so combining them should at least be a breath of fresh air.

Damn, I really enjoyed the show and thought it was perfectly fine until they introduced Bokaku and the alternative hand, it kind of fell of the rails from there for me.
And that finale was fucking ludicrous, it was downright schlock, which I actually kind of enjoyed but man, that dialogue and writing… I guess it made

Yeah, I guess that is a little icky since overall she is a pretty innocent person, though it's perfectly understandable, if you hate a character on a show what better way for him to leave the show then dying?
Like, I wasn't cheering when they killed of Laurel or anything since it was quite tragic, but overall I was

The Legion really should build a Doom factory as a base of operations.
Man, I miss Venture Bros…
