I watched an episode from ~1973 with Danny Kaye. Simply put...awesome!

Agreed. And Jennifer Granholm had/has that whole the boys’ ‘favorite’ high school honors english teacher look going too.

No...she’s 100% aware of her surroundings and the joke she made.

For comparison, she’s 2 months younger than my sister. It’s kind of surreal being in my 40s now.

Agree...from an Alpena native (and two degree grad from The U of M.) :-)

Ok...byeee!

Alternatively, it’s actually quite good.   I don’t know what god has to do with it though.

Wrong.

They really liked Goonies and Explorers, so they may like this one. As for ‘free range’ children...mine are kinda lame in the house kids, but not for lack of me trying to get them out there. I was pretty much free range in my small town northern Michigan city growing up, but, maybe, ‘different times’? More like bafflin

Well, I was 15 in 1993 and now have 3 boys (11, 12 & 13)...and my dad (although not sporty) was a 11 in 1954. Right now, the nostalgia and aspiration could be touching for three generations of my family right now. I’ve been meaning to have introduce my boys to this movie since we have Disney+.  Interesting, this

But Trump is worse in every category. And we’re done with Bush II, so it doesn’t matter. The Rs had the chance to ditch Trump in 2016, but didn’t and again (very easily, imo) this past January and screwed the pooch. Trump is the worst President in history (so far...and I pray we never get a worse one).

We know.   We’re watching it in real time here in the USA.

True, no big set pieces, but the almost non-stop singing and dancing and...everything by almost the entire cast on stage every second demands a break/breather or four throughout the 2.5+ hour show.

Points taken...but as was said elsewhere in these comments, humans don’t expel carbon monoxide. It’s carbon dioxide.

And there are several if you watch for the constructive elements. Several of of the solo ‘solos’ throughout the play (such as Liza’s letter burning scene) are also likely deliberate resets for the production.

I think it’s universally accepted that Miranda was the weakest of main performers, but I think his sincerity and enthusiasm for this creation helps buoy him.

I’m sure the KGIII interludes are basic to permit backstage resets and breaks for the actors/ensemble that almost literally go nonstop in the rest of the play.  The interludes are a great mental reset for the audience too.  I think its genius construction.

Also, the hamming is mostly the point and intent of the performance. This is theater. It’s one of the most, if not the most, artificial forms of human performance.  I love the play beginning to end, but I’m sure I’d like Chernow’s book too.

I tried with Bless This Mess, but it just didn’t click for me, despite generally enjoying most of the ensemble in other things.

To praise Colbert, this interview was 100 times better than the ABC one this past Sunday. The ABC interview was a trashy bit of hyberpole, obvious and suspect editing and pointless talking heads about subjects not Bolton.
