“What the fuck is wrong with this huge mansion that it cost the same as a modest one-bedroom apartment in an “up and coming” neighborhood in Brooklyn?”

They did NOT announce they were suing the victims and they did NOT try suing the victims. In Colorado, if the plaintiff loses in a civil suit they are responsible for the legal fees of the defendant. Cinemark offered a settlement. The judge, after seeing a related case lost, called everyone in and told the plaintiffs…
Cinemark didn’t countersue the victims. Are you ever going to read the facts on this case or just continue to spout baseless crap?
To give people choice you have to mandate single family homes in some places. Otherwise, in a spot where you could put five affordable $90-100k homes you get an apartment complex that with 200 units paying $800-1,000/month instead.
If you mandate "affordable housing" (ie: price ceilings) you artificially lower the cost of housing which makes more people want to move in than can actually afford to live there which exacerbates the issue. You just build housing. Eventually you will build enough housing that the price drops on its own. Mandating…
Please stop using actual economics of supply and demand in a discussion with HamNo. It needs to feel right, to hell with real world application.
The fact that you use birth control doesn't make you not Catholic. But if you really are Catholic (and not just the, "I think it's cool I can say I'm Catholic" type) then you also know you're in a state of mortal sin for doing so. You can say you don't believe that but your religion states that and if you can just…
Cinemark didn’t spend $700,000 to try and get out of paying $90,000. Let’s try this step by step: 1) CINEMARK OFFERED TO PAY the plaintiffs $90,000. 2) The plaintiffs lost a federal lawsuit. 3) 41 plaintiffs said, “Cool, we’ll take the money!” 5) The judge said, "You should probably take the settlement because while I…
I don't think he believes that both parties are equally bad, I think he was hedging in order to make clear that his protest is non-partisan. If he'd only mentioned Trump everyone on the far-right would have dismissed him as left-wing Hillary supporter. If he'd only mentioned Hillary everyone on the slight-right would…
A quote from Jia pulled right out of the post linked to in the comment directly before your’s:
That is not an error from the school's release. That is a transcription error. Maybe take an extra 15 seconds and read the actual letter that's pasted in almost directly above the author's incorrect quote?
You can pretend that "how you feel" after a speech in an election is not important, but that's ridiculously false. Yes, in the overall scheme of things substance (giving the benefit of the doubt and assuming there really is intent to follow through with said substance) is much more important. But in an election the…
I appreciate your faith in my character regarding leaving my wife and children, but I'm not leaving; we're some of those "marriage is for life, not for how you feel today, for better or for worse" whackos. If I die outside work she gets the life insurance. If I die at work she gets that plus a pension. And the school…
Which part is regressive? The part where I support my wife's (who's career choice was as a nanny before we got married because, again, raising children is something she is passionate about) choice in her profession, or the part where I will equip my daughter with the tools to make informed decisions about her own path…
lol. She’s not “counting on a man,” she’s fulfilling her choice and living her dream. She wants to raise children. She wants to impact the future. That is no less noble than working 40-60 hours somewhere else. We will encourage our daughter to choose the career or vocation that fits her, whatever that is. If she wants…
She doesn’t want a career outside the home, and that’s completely her choice. There are a lot of times where I wish she did; being right on the edge of bills every month can wear you down sometimes. But then she reminds me why we’ve made this choice and I calm back down. The only career she’s ever wanted, besides…
How is that setting the bar low? It’s not like there aren’t kids in the neighborhood they play with, too, it’s not like the only social interaction is soccer practice on Wednesday from 6pm - 7pm and on Fridays at the library at 4. She's almost 5, it doesn't have to be more intense than intentional play and engaging…
My daughter would be starting kindergarten in a month. So you are correct. In a month she will be school age and will be at home. I stand corrected. We do not homeschool, yet, we will start one month from now. I would, however, like to point out, that this does not actually affect any of the points I made regarding…

You don’t have to be rich to do this. I work for the Federal Government and until this current paycheck I only made $42k/yr (now at $47k, yay promotion). My wife does not work outside the home, she stays at home with our 2 children (4.5 and 2). You can make it work, you just have to prioritize it, like everything…
