I’d say the reaction to a joke that was kinda clever, kinda meh, very harmless is perhaps a reason why Democrats lost the election.

I’m reminded of the scene in Big where the toy execs are pushing a new toy that transforms from a skyscraper into a robot, and poor Tom Hanks just doesn’t get it. I watched the Parallels movie on Netflix and it just didn’t seem interesting enough to sustain a series.
