For me what you describe only works for IM. My smses often consist of multiple sentences (I send free text messages so I don't have to cram everything into 160 characters) so periods are necessary. In IM you (or rather I) tend to hit Enter after every (half) sentence, so I don't use periods there most of the time.
But also far more delicate and easy to break. I prefer my horses sturdy.
You're probably right, though I can imagine a driver moving a little to the right/left on his bench if he wanted to hit another driver very badly. Which may have been a perfectly normal thing to do, depending on the overall degree of politeness in traffic in the middle ages.
Also, in medieval times, the driver was usually on the front of the vehicle, not inside, without window to be using a weapon out of. Unless by vehicle you mean horse, but then again horses usually don't have windows.
Strangely enough, here in Belgium the C word (or, rather, the Dutch translation) is quite acceptable, except at family dinners.
MS's interface (from Office 2007 onwards) is, to me at least, way more intuitive than LibreOffice's. Even more so in Office 2010.

Weird. I'm pretty sure that sentence wasn't there when I read the article. Though I have been diagnosed with not seeing things that are there more than once.
I understand the difference, I just wanted to point out that the ability to edit comments is nothing new, as the article seems to imply.
I've been able to edit my own comments for a long time now... The delete button functions as an edit button if my comment is the latest in a conversation and I don't wait for too long after posting it.
Also in other European countries (The Netherlands and Belgium as far as I know). System restore helps too.
So what you're saying is: we're using CAPTCHA's to make computers better at reading CAPTCHA's?
You're right, I probably shouldn't torture myself like that. But in a strange way it's also addictive.
If you don't care about the language of your music, you might want to check X Japan, who were astonishingly popular in their home country in the eighties. I would recommend their compilation album 'X Singles' for a start. 'X live' is the best live recording of a song. Ever.
Luckily I don't have to work over the weekend, but I ruined my own week at work. I work as a service desk agent. On Monday I found out how to check how many calls or e-mails any colleague handles. I've been comparing myself to my co-workers all week. Turns out I usually handle 50% more calls/mails than most of the…
By first writing five bad ones, then one mediocre one which will have sky-rocketing sales!
The best part of it is, if you don't feign incompetence for once, you exceed expectations and people are very impressed!
We used to go there before it was closed, every year on my grandmother's birthday. Good times, good times.
If the stranger is a writer with writer's block, I suspect that once he can break the writer's block, the writing in this series will magically become a lot better.
