It’s tough to say where it comes from, especially looking at the other comments on this.  I see “b” more often.

One can do things “right” and still end up not as well-to-do financially as they’d wish. Fortune/luck/chance/opportunity plays a role in it.

People say “we are fortunate” because all the schooling and financial planning won’t mean anything if your hit by sudden an unexpected health issues, especially early in your career. Cancer bankrupts people in the US.

“We’re fortunate that we’re responsible.”

Gax tax?

I’m just glad the UAW is putting forth the effort to make it a safe environment for its dues-paying members such as a union is intended...oh wait...that doesn’t seem to be happening. Good point about management. Where the fuck are they? Or, like you said, does it all stem from the top?

That should happen everywhere. Consider yourself ahead of the curve.

It’s called agile and it totally works for every industry </s>

1st gear: Ford engineers: The Explorer isn’t ready for production. Ford management: That’s okay, we’ll let our customers debug the problems.
