Gender identity is simply part of your internal reference of self. Gender roles and expression refer to how the way you act, dress, the job you have, your hobbies etc interplay with society’s construction of ‘gender’. A cis woman who works in STEM, plays football and doesn’t want to be a mother is still a woman

You seem to be confusing gender identity with gender roles and expression. They are different things.

Edit: nevermind

Speaking of musical numbers, did anyone catch the pilot of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (not in love with the name, but hear me out) the other night? It’s pretty fresh and promising, and had this fun moment:

Ok I hate anti vaxxers as much as the next rational person but as someone who works in disability I kinda need people to know that not all people with autism are like that one cool kid with a few quirks they met one time. The kids with severe autistic symptoms are often unable to communicate, have intellectual

I assumed they meant this Kirby:

Oh, ilu :)

It isn’t ‘sex work’ because breasts are not sexual organs, they are secondary sexual characteristics meant for feeding infants that are weirdly fetishised by society. Looking at breasts isn’t a sex act. Taking photographs of breasts isn’t a sex act.

My Dutch grandmother was a young teen during the Japanese occupation of the Dutch colonies in Indonesia. Apparently the parents of her and some of the other girls lied about their ages and encouraged them to act much younger and play with dolls and such to try to save them from becoming comfort women.

I could do all those things and not lose weight. The only way to guarantee weight loss is to eat less calories than you burn.

Yeah, I thought the teen actors were especially great. And it made me want to visit Adelaide, I’ve still never been (I live in Sydney).

Was than an Australian film? I saw that!

A trans actor would have had to present as male for the flashback scenes, which could have been tricky and potentially traumatic for someone who has already transitioned. I definitely agree that there should be more roles going to trans actors though. While transition stories are interesting and necessary right now, I

How is it boring to show a trans person living his or her normal life? Is that the only aspect of their identity? Why can’t we have a trans superhero, or rom-com romantic lead, or zombie hunter, or lawyer? The story of a trans person doesn’t have to boil down to their transition and gender identity.

For me I feel like the lie would have to be something that made the person feel like they didn’t have much choice.

Might I propose a new pissing contest category: your best story involving doing drugs with your parent? Mine only involve pot but there are sure to be some good ones out there.

I like to pull a power move by jumping in to pay for at least the first round of beers. Like, I’ll just casually go up and pay and be like, ‘it’s cool, I got this one’. It’s good for sussing out whether he’s the kind of guy who worries about ‘feeling emasculated’.
