I have to say the new comment system is saving me time on reading Lifehacker. I used to read the whole list, but now I find the backwards discussion thread completely frustrating.

Dampen a paper towel damp and then ring dry. Fold the edge over a butter knife and run it in between the keys. The damp cloth grabs onto a ton of stuff (especially cat fur) - you'd be amazed.

As a single person, a frozen pizza is too big to eat in one sitting and reheated it isn't very good at all. So when the pizza is still frozen in its plastic sleeve I hold one side against the counter and break it in half and just cook one side. Takes less time too.

@maalmeida: Same here. Gave up on them after months of this. Useless program.

@ddouthitt: Small children usually leave a mess for the waiters and often cry and are disruptive to other diners. I like children a lot, but let's be honest.

In the winter time I always put hot things I'm planning to freeze outside on a mound of snow. Soda, etc, that comes home lukewarm from the grocery store stays in the cold garage overnight rather than going into the fridge. Just don't let it freeze if its really cold.

@AbsurdHero: I agree. Milk and mayo never have a problem.

One thing, though, is that it assumes that you are traveling as the crow flies and doesn't know about bodies of water. I put in Grand Rapids, MI and Milwaukee, WI, and the meeting point was in the middle of Lake Michigan.

My latest discovery is that cardboard makes an instant, nearly free room-darkening shade.

@everythingsfree: Doesn't everyone have muscovado sugar, as the article above assumes?

Fresh eggs don't peel well - that's your problem.

@DillonHarpie: Yep. Older is easier to peel. The fluid contents of the egg evaporate slightly, so a hollow space forms between the egg and the shell. Then the egg is easier to peel.

@SamLovesTacos: As a pet owner, I was warned away from Dyson and other bagless vacuums by a friend who runs a vacuum repair shop. They see lots of bagless vacs come in because pet hair damages them. She also said Dysons' stiff beater brush damages delicate carpets.

Every idea on LH gets toasted by its readers, but I think this one is a hoot. Of course I wouldn't do it myself - I'd be embarrassed for company to see it. But it's really clever.

@Adam Carpentieri: I agree - if you're cramped for space, skip the desk and work on a laptop.

Memory foam mattresses are hot - not so much when you first lie down, but really hot by morning. Bleah.

Chris' new space looks really nice, I agree, but he lost over half of his work surface. If he was just putting cardbord boxes on it, maybe they'll go in that big space over on the opposite side of his desk now. What else will that space be useful for?

One more thing to add to perfect the binder idea. Buy a ream of 3-hole punched paper and print your documents on paper ready to go in the binder.

One thing that greatly increases the lifespan of clothes is to make sure not to bake you clothes. Dry everything on delicate (it doesn't take much longer) and don't let things overdry. When clothes are wet the evaporation keeps them somewhat cool, but once the water is gone, the temperature of the cloth increases
