From what I loosely understand, there are a number of things that work against the plaintiff: (1) it appears that he was the uphill skier (possibly the most important fact), (2) his testimony contradicts the ski instructor’s testimony (who is much more likely to be neutral), (3) he began by asking for an obscene

The person who was offended was the direct target of the word. It’s not like an abled person combed Twitter on a mission to find something to be offended about. That’s like accusing a mugging victim of being on a mission to get mugged.

One can condemn the actions of Hamas and Israel in the same breath. The difference is one is throwing unguided rockets blind every few months, the other has access to nuclear weapons, flagrantly ignores UN directives and laws (even though they only exist because of the UN).

Agreed. It’s a real shame Israel created them as a counterweight to the PLO.

It less to do with “cringe” and more with an apartheid supporter singing songs about no countries, borders, peace, etc while supporting policies like IDF snipers targeting the knees of peaceful protestors to the point of bragging of of getting “42 knees in one day” and purposely targeting children.

I’d be more interested in seeing Gal Gadot apologize for supporting apartheid, but I guess we’ll have to content ourselves with an apology for a cringeworthy video we all kinda forgot.

Did she also back off on her support of the murder of Palestinians?

This may be the case and a reasonable criticism under typical circumstances for them, but I don’t know how you can level that criticism about coming out as non-binary and asserting the use of they/them pronouns. Figuring this shit out is liberating, and being misgendered is painful. People deserve to hear pronouns

No. Stop it. Don't give the Woo Quantum Mysticism any breathing space. This is an incredible scientific discovery and tying it to Williamson's nonsense is just unnecessary.

This is the appropriate and humane response.

Totally agree with you about Tropic Thunder, although it’s a comedy I think it’s a pretty big social commentary that hits a lot of issues within the entertainment industry. I actually cringed harder with “Simple Jack” than Kirk Lazarus.

Pretty sure you misunderstood her quote about suffering - she’s not trying to say that she herself is used to suffering but that, as an activist, she is used to seeing the suffering of others.

It was a mistake for AP to call it tonight before so many people are voting tomorrow. This will only further the accusations of voter fraud/suppression, etc. This isn’t so great for Hillary or the Dems. UGH. I’m annoyed.

Here’s a longer, more subtle conversation between Sanders and Cornell West, Nina Turner and Killer Mike about systemic racism in the black community, for anyone interested in Sanders’ thoughts on the issue;
